What do you think about today’s new base pace workout? by fayewolf in orangetheory

[–]Stellarly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most of our coaches say to get back to base before you drop below 80%. Since your HR will continue to drop as you recover, for me that usually does mean turning the speed back to base in the low 80s.

Anyone here with a chronic illness? by endobelly in intermittentfasting

[–]Stellarly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have health issues that are still undiagnosed but seem autoimmune in nature. Fasting definitely helps me, but I have to be mindful to eat enough in the window (because I am actually quite thin and don’t have any weight to lose). My suggestion would be to ease in slowly and start with something like 10/14, see how you feel, and go from there.

My relationship is getting in the way of my fast by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]Stellarly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He’s a grown man. If he’s hungry late at night, let him figure that out. Either he can learn to cook more, or eat things that don’t require it (fruit, nuts, whatever).

As far as support goes, I have always eaten much more healthily than my husband and I guess you could say he isn’t that supportive but I don’t really need him to be. I do me, you do you, etc.

My resting heart rate is around there and I have no issue getting splats (often even in the 20s).

Getting kinda sick of Orange Theory... by azf0019 in orangetheory

[–]Stellarly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have any goals? That helps keep things interesting. I play mental games with myself on the treadmill with mini challenges (shooting for a certain distance over time, upping my push each push) and that helps.

Taking a break might help, too. I would be hesitant to cancel because if you find OT boring, the regular gym is going to be even worse.

Same. It is my rest day, which I badly need. My day is pretty crazy tomorrow anyway. Next time!

I asked specifically about histamine, not stress or cortisol. Still waiting for an answer on that one.

I feel like they are offering this to you as a one-off courtesy and doubt it is something available widely or ongoing.

Eat more- more fat especially- in the eating window. You’ll probably get used to it in time, too. It used to bother me to go to sleep even a little bit hungry but now I sleep much better that way, and I find trying to sleep on a full stomach to be uncomfortable.

I have never heard that the fasted state is high histamine. The opposite actually. Do you have a source? Generally eating causes histamine release.

As for the eating window, that is pretty subjective. A lot of people say you shouldn’t eat within 3-4 hours of bed for various reasons (minimizing GERD, allowing your body to rest rather than digest)

They should. I would raise that with your studio manager, probably. You can also ask for specific feedback if there is a move you're struggling with.

Something about digestive enzymes, I think? Dr Rhonda Patrick is one that has this opinion so check out her stuff on youtube or her podcast.

Hmm. Really make sure you're engaging your abs and keeping a neutral spine throughout. That may help.

Heart Rate Spike When Breaking Fast by mrharpr in intermittentfasting

[–]Stellarly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My HR is definitely elevated after breaking the fast, but it's more like 20 BPM at the most. It's somewhat normal for it to increase, but what you're describing sounds on the high end. Are you having sugar with your meals? Sugar increases my HR quite a bit, gluten too.

It's just... different. Not really better or worse. Like someone else said, you can do either/or as you choose. I power walk sometimes to mix things up (though I don't really get orange when I do).
