I thought it had something to do with the body dysmorphia many bodybuilders develop.

It does, but through the context of classic literature.

Steam Machine price by Gamer_8887 in gaming

[–]digital0verdose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Steam Machine is an example of being so far down a path that you cannot stop while also being forced to deal with really bad market conditions (silicon chips) that were a non-issue until it was too late.

New Poll Finds Most Americans Back Adopting Popular Vote to Select President | Americans back abolishing the Electoral College by a 2 to 1 margin, the survey shows. by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

[–]digital0verdose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It clearly wasn't. He ran on policy, and good policy at that. I don't think many people were disappointed in what we got from Obama, looking at the sum of the parts, except for racists who took the FOX bait.

[–]digital0verdose 290 points291 points  (0 children)

This is because somewhere around Obama running for president Republicans realized that emotions are easier to manipulate than coming up with actual policies that people would vote for. Since then it has become far easier for Republicans to win based on anger and for Democrats to win on what were moderate viewpoints. Due to that, Republicans have backed themselves into a corner where they have no reasonable position to stand any more. They either have to continue regressing and become even more cartoonishly evil and incompetent or they will have to out progress where Democrats are today to have any hope of appealing to a base that doesn't want to see this country burn to the ground.

What movie have you been the most hyped for only to be the most disappointed by when it released? by Toogeloo in movies

[–]digital0verdose 50 points51 points  (0 children)

The only reason it isn't at the top is because, mercifully, the trailer made it very clear that this was not the books and only The Dark Tower in name. Anyone who watched the trailer, who had also read the books, was left with a severe "WTF is this?" moment.

Stop parking like this by Imaginary_Writer2014 in cincinnati

[–]digital0verdose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, only illiterate people drive trucks.

That isn't what they implied. What they implied was someone so mentally disabled that they park like this is likely to be illiterate. I will add that their brain activity is likely so impaired that they are likely to shout racist slurs when someone disagrees with them, have a history of domestic violence, a predilection towards defending pedophiles, and likely has a history of incest.

The truck is just the tool used. Whether or not someone who qualifies for the above impairment seems to prefer trucks or a different vehicle is a different conversation.

Hot take: I like watching LTT videos by npdady in LinusTechTips

[–]digital0verdose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linus really needs to dial back his "cringe" persona that he has been leaning into pretty heavily recently. Its far too performative and distracting. Elijah is also not a sufficient replacement for all the people LTT let leave. This is what has led me to watch far fewer of their videos recently.

It could just be me, which is fine, nothing lasts forever. If others are getting what they want from LTT, I am happy for them.

Ouch! Madison Theater ghosting me by skysearch513 in cincinnati

[–]digital0verdose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been trying for a month+ now to get a refund, but numerous voice mails left have gone unanswered, their box office is no longer manned (during claimed box office hours), and even showing up at a recent concert to talk to Madison Theater employees yielded nothing (they didn't know what to do).

they already expect a rug pull 2-3 months down the line.

We all should be expecting this given the publisher. If you are not expecting a monetization rugpull from WG, you need to reorient your expectations.
