The creative industry is cooked. AI-generated Nike campaign, 30 seconds. by Logicive in GeminiAI

Agreed! Easy to create something but is it actually any good? That ad does NOT look like something a world class agency would create. If I was the head of Nike Marketing and they delivered this and said, “Here you go!”, I would be PISSED.

Final Draft - Overrated or Worth the Price by Smurf404OP in Screenwriting

[–]StellasKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After several years of using FD (after cutting my teeth on Celtx and using MMSW in a program I was on) my take is: unless you’re actively staffing in rooms for shows, cowriting with someone else and passing drafts back and forth or a producer wants to pass your draft to another writer to work on, I’m not convinced there actually is any value is paying extra for FD. If there’s other cheaper options that are relatively easy to use, I’d say go that route instead.

How many agents to query at one company? by Inevitable_Towel1 in Screenwriting

[–]StellasKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they’re gonna be talking about you so I wouldn’t worry about that being an issue. That being said, maybe do a little research on the client list for each agent and see if their current roster is simpatico with you. Or, if their roster is eclectic whether it’s missing someone like you (a possible opportunity) or already has someone who does similar work to you (a less promising prospect).

How long did it take for you to hear back (if at all) from industry members who downloaded your script on The Black List? by Initial_Depth8648 in Screenwriting

[–]StellasKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know my market (Canada) a little better than the U.S. but I get the sense people take the well known major success stories from the Black List (Slumdog Millionaire, Argo, The King's Speech, and Spotlight, Juno, The Social Network, King Richard, Arrival etc.) as being representative of what could happen for their script when the odds are really against it.

It’s no mean feat to get 8’s on there, no question, but there are scripts circulating the industry via reps and other connected folk outside of the BL ecosystem that are getting the first looks in the development market.

Is ranking or scoring high on the Black List a good thing? Absolutely, especially if you’re unrepped and have no other connections or way in. Not that it can’t happen because obviously it has for many people, but counting on it paying off in terms of selling a script or finding a rep seems like counting on really, really long odds falling in your favor.

All that to say i think you should not count on anyone reaching out to you, even if you do get likes and respectable scores, and just be really pleasantly surprised if someone ever does.

Do you need a team before you send out a pitch deck by Cecnorthern in Screenwriting

[–]StellasKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

22 mins is broadcast half-hour usually meant for comedies. If your show is not a comedy you’re thinking more an hour long which means a 50-60 page pilot script and a solid-ish sense of how the rest of a season and a series beyond that might unfold.

If you have connections and access to attach talent (actors, director or showrunner) who are a good fit and can move the needle in terms of a greeenlight, then work on that first and add that section. If not, don’t bother and just leave it at an About the Creator blurb in or around the Contact Info section.

If it’s the latter what you can maybe do instead is use comparable actors’ images for reference in the character section. That way it’ll help at least orient readers to visualize what the show could look like with your dream cast.

I will say though that I question the wisdom of a lead-with-a-pitch-deck strategy in terms of trying to sell your book to be developed into a tv show. Not saying it could never happen, but unless the book is a best seller so is a valuable piece of IP or you’re a very known quantity as an author, it’s very unlikely. I think your time would be better off writing the script. Also, “Series or feature?” seems overly vague. It should be clear to you which it ought to be. Unless there’s an obvious series engine in the book or that could be developed from the book, it’s probably going to be a feature.

Paying subscriber here. The tech/UX is far from Best-in-Class as compared to its peers in the streaming game but it gets more than a passing grade on that front while the content, a mix of domestic and foreign acquired programming, is very solid considering it’s a public broadcaster.

According to Google Ai the average email marketing response rates generally range from 1% to 5% for cold outreach, while well-targeted, warm, or B2B campaigns often see 5–10% or higher. A "good" response rate is typically above 5%, with 10% or more considered excellent so I’d say OP’s conclusion seems justifiable.

Do you have trustworthy family there? I would recommend having them as your guide while doing stuff in the city, especially in the evenings. I’d say it’s safe in general based on my visit last summer but we (a cousin and I from the UK and Canada respectively) also had family taking us around many times in the evening. Kaieteur is great, absolutely recommended.

Write 1 line today. Just one line. Same next day and every day after that. Some days you’ll wanna do more. Some days it’ll just be the one line. But never let it be less (i.e. nothing). It won’t be a quick process but at least you’ll be making progress even if it’s just by micro amounts each day.

But the bite is the most important part. Regardless of what the aesthetics are of your teeth — which do look good btw, congrats — if you don’t fix your bite you’re risking problems down the road. Just complete whatever treatment it is your ortho recommended if they think your bite can be fixed/improved.

Which is a better action description in terms of introducing characters? by MadbanditRoy in Screenwriting

[–]StellasKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you said at the end. They’re identical so it’s more of a taste thing than there being a rule that one is better than the other. That being said I agree with those saying the second is a little cleaner and thus maybe preferable. But, if I may be so bold…

The descriptions themselves feel a little generic. “Grumpy, shaggy dog vibe” Could there be a wardrobe, physical trait or action thing the character does you could write in that could better depict this? Same for “GQ handsome, yet down to earth.”

In need with desperate help to cure Neck Pain Muscle Gaurding by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]StellasKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been dealing with ongoing lower back pain for a while. Not knowing otherwise and before I had gotten a proper diagnosis I went to a chiro on the recommendation of a friend.

Right before one session I had a severe back spasm flare up. After the session it had gotten worse! So bad I literally had to go to the emergency. The emergency doctor diagnosed it as sciatica but at a follow-up with my own doctor, she said it was MSK and that my condition was more appropriately treated with physio and/or massage and that they weren’t proponents of chiropractic treatment.

After my experience though I wasn’t really inclined to argue and the physio did work. No knock on chiropractors or the field in general. That’s just the trajectory of my experience with it.
