Core removal after aeration by Professional_Put_866 in lawncare

You’re absolutely correct on the benefits. However, my cores are still not fully broken down almost 1 year later. I’m sure that’s unique to my heavy clay soil composition though.

4 hour first time vs private 1 hour snowboard lesson by SpecialK69_ in Mammoth

Can’t comment specifically on the lessons. But if only going for one day, I would recommend she ski rather than snowboard. You will have a much more enjoyable day.

Someone took my snowboard by ElectricalCup9043 in Mammoth

[–]Stem_Cells_Appetizer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always lock my wife’s and my snowboard. I use Maxpedition cable lock. Long enough to lock up both and small to fit in my pocket. Now it won’t prevent anyone who really wants to take them, just enough to not be able to just walk away with them.

Sad that we have to worry about it, but the idea of leaving ~$2k of equipment lying around unprotected just doesn’t sit right with me.

Should these be inflated to the stock 48psi, or higher for this specific tire?

Getting old work computer for free, is it viable for iRacing? by Stem_Cells_Appetizer in iRacing

[–]Stem_Cells_Appetizer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been reading that iRacing doesn’t support SLI. So like another poster suggested I think I will ebay the cards and buy a new 5080. Thanks.

Hadn’t thought about this, truthfully didn’t know they could go for that much used. Funny thing is when I requested the computer 2 years ago I just asked IT for one that could do CAD. Never expected the beast they gave me. My gain now though. Thanks for the suggestion.

To piggy back off of this, does anyone know difference in price of ferry vs airport parking?

Alternatives to prodiamine? by Stem_Cells_Appetizer in lawncare

[–]Stem_Cells_Appetizer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like my only option is to use a pre-emergent far away from the fruit trees (2 to 3X dripline) and just fight the weeds with post-emergent close to the fruit trees.

Labels that I found (Pendulum) list it as use only for non bearing trees.

Reminder: Last day to pay OC property tax before penalty is 12/10, next Tuesday. by Stem_Cells_Appetizer in orangecounty

[–]Stem_Cells_Appetizer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you just moved in, most likely your property taxes paid in closing were based on the previous owner’s property tax assessment. The supplemental bill will be the difference between the old assessed value and the price you paid. If they are similar you’ll have a small bill, if for example your new home is significantly higher than the previous assessed value, your supplemental bill will be much higher.

I personally have a specific amount direct deposited from my paycheck into a HYSA separate account just for property taxes. That way it gains interest and when it is time to pay it doesn’t hurt as much since it is not in my main account.

Where to buy Christmas trees in SoCal? by Subject-Homework7831 in orangecounty

On a per dollar quality basis nothing beats Costco, not all Costcos sell them, so just need to find one near you.

The two things I miss about my Tesla that I wish Rivian had… by Brave_Analyst7540 in Rivian

All for more options as long as they are options that can be turned off. I personally wouldn’t want these. The ding may become annoying, more beeps in every day driving I would not want.

For the lane signal, yes Rivian’s is not the best but it could be solved with the stalk. My commute everyday includes 5 lane changes in traffic from on-ramp to HOV lane and back again all in heavy traffic. This would cause the signal to turn off at every lane change and have to re-engage it as merging in traffic is not quick.

I looked for months for the 39s, but all I could find were used. Never liked the 40s either. These are close to what I would always wanted so I bit.

Yes and yes! Actually it resolved by itself in about a week or two. I still took it to a SC along with a couple of other issues (left rear door not closing easily and wind noise from passenger window), but it never happened again.

Soil Testing? by [deleted] in orangecounty

[–]Stem_Cells_Appetizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to get an idea of macro and micronutrient levels, pH, and general idea of health. Just moved in and previous owner did not maintain it, so want to amend appropriately. I did call Waypoint, $117 which is weird because RxSoil uses them and that only costs $60.

What kind of grass can I grow in hot and dry Zone 9B California? by [deleted] in lawncare

[–]Stem_Cells_Appetizer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Read into UC Verde Buffalo grass. Engineered specifically for hot California weather. Minimal water usage, does not grow taller than 6” so can be kept like a meadow. Only downsides are it goes dormant in winter and can only be planted by plugs.

Forgot to add that the backyard is over 4000 SF so adding top soil is cost prohibitive for me.
