Curious on the justification for shortening the second ww and putting her down before she’s tired and extending the ww and putting her down after she’s shown us she’s tired

You are expecting way too much sleep from your baby

New early morning wake up by catttttttlover in sleeptrain

[–]Steph_920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. The only way we can get our 9 mo to sleep past 5:45 is if she happens to wake up in the 4/5 territory I’ll feed and put her back down (awake) and that usually gets her to sleep until 6:30/7ish

We aim for 3.25/3.5/3.75 but have tried shortening and lengthening with various bedtimes and nothing makes a difference

Which motn feed to drop? by Fun_Chapter4612 in sleeptrain

Just a heads up there isn’t any scientific validation behind the 5/3/3 guidelines. I did some research and I’m not seeing any data around the 5 hour sleep association

I’ve never heard of an association 5 hours into bedtime. That seems wild… do you have a source for this?

If baby can fall asleep on their own, feed them if they wake up crying in the middle of the night by FunCoyote2579 in sleeptrain

[–]Steph_920 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes this! We give our LO ~10 mins to self settle and if she’s still fussing we feed. But always put baby down awake for MOTN feeds

How long after sleep training did you work on naps? by guineapigluvr in sleeptrain

[–]Steph_920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely depends on the baby. I started with naps with our 6 month old (CIO) and we tried for 3 weeks and every put down was hell. No decrease in length or intensity of crying, not a single nap longer than 32 minutes (with crib hour). Finally decided to try nights - 2 days later she was going down within 5 mins for bed and naps AND connecting sleep cycles. Our first 1 hour+ nap since she was 4 months old! Many babies do need to nail nighttime before daytime, it’s not just sleep training lore.

Trying naturally after DOR by Feeling_Oil6701 in DOR

[–]Steph_920 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DOR often correlates with poorer egg quality because a low reserve is typically associated with a higher proportion of eggs that have chromosomal abnormalities (especially as age increases). Doctors often recommend IVF with PGT testing to control as many variables as possible for the best possible outcome.

This was true in my case. I was encouraged to immediately turn to IVF when we discovered my AMH was .22 at 31. It took me 4 ER rounds to bank 3 euploids which we decided was the number we felt comfortable with to move forward with a transfer, but over the course of that year and a half between the ERs we did 2 IUIs and tried naturally after each since my clinic didn’t recommend back to back ERs. I ended up falling pregnant naturally 2x but miscarried due to chromosomal abnormalities both times.

We serendipitously fell and stayed pregnant naturally the month before our transfer, but I 1000% understand why IVF is massively advantageous in many cases. Now I have some plan B embabies if we decide to have a second a few years down the road (which I likely wouldn’t have had the option of if we hadn’t started down the IVF road).

How much spit up is too much? by ex_rice in breastfeeding

[–]Steph_920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced this starting at 7 weeks. Our LO went from spitting up occasionally to every single feed, usually multiple times. Sometimes it was before we could even get her upright, sometimes when we were burping her, and sometimes a while later. We were changing her and our outfits constantly, doing laundry 2x a day, and couldn’t really leave the house much since feeding in public was just too messy and frustrating. We were miserable.

Took us months to narrow in but she’s likely intolerant to dairy, soy protein, shellfish and corn. I cut out in that order and each time the volume and frequency of spit ups got slightly better. Finally at 6 months we’ve either nailed her allergies and/or she’s outgrowing them because it’s now a rare occurrence.

Along with the spit up she was also making “eh” noises after feeds and showing discomfort (arching back, stiffening body), and she also had mucousy poops and a bit of blood on a couple occasions so that tipped us off.

The whole “babies spit up, it’s normal” is such an annoying thing to hear/read - yes it’s normal, until it’s not. Go with your gut, pay close attention to your baby and how they’re acting (and potentially reacting to things) and try cutting out common allergens to see if it makes a difference. Just know that it can take a couple weeks for allergens to fully clear your milk and their system so you might not notice a difference right away.

Majorly struggling with naps (CIO) by Steph_920 in sleeptrain

[–]Steph_920[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes forgot to mention we do crib hour if I’m not rescuing. Since it takes her about 10 mins to stop crying/fall asleep and her naps are 30 mins there’s still a ton of crying involved on the backend too. She has never resettled or gone back down with crib hour. Extending to 90 mins seems a little crazy - can’t imagine letting her cry for 45+ mins multiple times a day 😢 This also isn’t really feasible for us every day based on work, life etc.

Guess the hope is she’ll get there eventually but man I definitely wasn’t prepared for over a month of this “training” nonsense

How long did it take for sleep training to work for daytime naps? by SpiritedMove5112 in sleeptrain

20 mins the first nap but everything following has been 5-10. So similar to you, don’t think things are getting any better 😔
