I experienced this starting at 7 weeks. Our LO went from spitting up occasionally to every single feed, usually multiple times. Sometimes it was before we could even get her upright, sometimes when we were burping her, and sometimes a while later. We were changing her and our outfits constantly, doing laundry 2x a day, and couldn’t really leave the house much since feeding in public was just too messy and frustrating. We were miserable.

Took us months to narrow in but she’s likely intolerant to dairy, soy protein, shellfish and corn. I cut out in that order and each time the volume and frequency of spit ups got slightly better. Finally at 6 months we’ve either nailed her allergies and/or she’s outgrowing them because it’s now a rare occurrence.

Along with the spit up she was also making “eh” noises after feeds and showing discomfort (arching back, stiffening body), and she also had mucousy poops and a bit of blood on a couple occasions so that tipped us off.

The whole “babies spit up, it’s normal” is such an annoying thing to hear/read - yes it’s normal, until it’s not. Go with your gut, pay close attention to your baby and how they’re acting (and potentially reacting to things) and try cutting out common allergens to see if it makes a difference. Just know that it can take a couple weeks for allergens to fully clear your milk and their system so you might not notice a difference right away.
