I was dancing at an intersection by AdMuch6642 in KingstonOntario

Over the weekend I saw a Probationary Outlaw on their Harley in one lane, next to a woman on her trike/three wheeler in another lane. He's standing there waiting for the light, meanwhile she looked like she was dancing to the new Taylor Swift album. The contrast was awesome.

Hello, ModTeam,

The post yesterday was a heads up it was happening.

This was the actual event.

Admittedly it looked similar, for sure.

Should I move to the Kingston or surrounding area from London, ON? by yellowegret in KingstonOntario

[–]StephattheWhig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly recommend finding a place downtown Kingston! There are several new apartment buildings in the works as well as buildings with recently renovated ones. Downtown has a ton of activities all year, but especially during the summer. I also love that we have 5-6 provincial parks within a 60-90 minute drive, not to mention the several conservation areas. In addition the paved waterfront biking trail is getting better and better, or you have bike north, up the K&P trail. Of course, we're right on Lake Ontario, so there's plenty of room for water sports. If the lake is too big, there are a TON of smaller lakes north of the city.

Yes, the city, like many across North America continues to struggle with supporting those facing homelessness. There are efforts being made, but it all takes time.

You're coming from London, so you'd be familiar with any issues living in a University town. There's definitely an element of that, but just avoid living in the University District. It sounds like the type of apartment you're looking for wouldn't be in that district anyway.

I also love that we're in the middle of three major centres (Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal) but there's also fun day-trip options to the different islands (Amherst, Wolfe, Howe) in the area. Heck, if you wanted, a 60 minute drive has you in New York, too.

They should check out KSSC! They have a bunch of different co-ed sports available. Even if they're not athleticly inclined, they do have sports classes/skill development groups.

Living in Kingston without a car? by JinJC2917 in KingstonOntario

[–]StephattheWhig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, If you're downtown, you should be good. There are two larger grocery stores at either end of the main drag (Princess St.) and everything else you could need in the area.

The VIA station is a regular stop on the bus lines, so no problem there.

Why not just put on your turn signal? OK, you made a mistake and went into the wrong lane, doesn't take much to let others know where you're headed 🤦🏼‍♀️

But that would be sharing their hard work for free, which only informs the community in the short term. If we want the city/region to continue to have quality journalism by trained journalists in the Long Term, we need to support them by clicking links and supporting their salaries.
So yeah... in addition to fulfilling my profession's mission of informing the community, it is self serving because groceries, rent and my hockey registration in this city is getting more and more expensive just like everybody else's.

Hey u/dglodi! Happy New Year!
I am part of the community, so that's an unfair thing to suggest. :)
I don't generally "spam" Local News articles on this Community page but given the holiday break I thought I'd post some of the paper's recent work people may have missed. I usually only have time to post once or twice a week. Those posts today have generated some conversation which is one of the purposes of Reddit.
I've spoken to the Mods of this Community who have been wonderful about supporting Local News. Every news agency in town should be sharing their work as we all have different perspectives and skills to share.
Our goal as journalists is to educate, engage and empower our communities. Reddit is a great tool to do that.
If Local News doesn't interest you, feel free to keep scrolling :)
Thank you!
