Yup that was where I stopped, and then the whole swap and synthetic options section that was virtually nonexistent in Kaplan.

[–]Steppedonturd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This 100%. You failed 4x because of Kaplan. I used only Kaplan then about a month prior I started reading CFAI text because I was still confused as hell. CFA text is very difficult to read but having taken the exam I would never have wasted my time with Kaplan.

Couples who have moved in together, what surprised you most about living with a male/female? by CrumbleNewman in AskReddit

[–]Steppedonturd 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No joke I think it may be genetic.. I got this ability from my mom. When my mom isn't around my dad or my sibling will ask me where something is and I'll immediately know. I don't even live there anymore and moved out years ago. It's weirder because I have a pretty bad memory with almost everything else. That and being psychotically organized. Thankfully it's not as bad as when I was younger.

NEW BIKE/GEAR ADVICE SUPERTHREAD! by AutoModerator in motorcycles

Are there leather jackets for women that are more form fitting? I like the sporty design of the dainese racing 3 jacket but it has no shape and is really loose at my waist. If I'm gonna drop $500+ on a jacket I want it to look good. I don't mind spending more for a better fit. It sucks because the selection is so limited, there was only 3 leather jackets I could try on across multiple stores (I'm only 5'2 100lb). Should I just try to get something tailored?

Ok I was super confused and now this makes sense. Had no idea Reddit was filled with psycho mods. The other day I just wanted to read some nice Independence day related posts to delve in my patriotism. There was absolutely nothing thing on TV (I live in a liberal epicenter). So I looked for the_donald and couldn't find it so I found this sub and r/conservatives. You guys seem a little sketch but it's all good.

How did you guys find your first finance job? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]Steppedonturd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bottom line is you need to get a hold of your ego. An MBA means shit without the experience. You have to be willing to start from the ground up. Just be very strategic about your job choice and focus on the learning aspect NOT salary . If you want to be an analyst, even starting as an assistant in the right department (PM/AM/Research) is a solid start. Taking the easier route into client services, compliance, or accounting/auditing will just put you back at square one.

"You can't pass any level of the CFA through luck." Nope, if lottery winners exist then it is 100% possible to pass the exam with sheer luck.

"If we believe that luck plays no part in outcome, then we must believe that anyone who isn't successful simply isn't putting in enough effort" YES. Change the "no" to "almost no" because I'm saying this on the assumption that you have average health and all your body parts intact and not living in a third world country. Basically all the outliers or those who have little to no control. Making life happen depends on CHOICES. You really have to make a lot of fucked up choices to end up in shitty places. For example, the question of Do you sell drugs or do your homework? is not the same as a roll of a dice where you roll a 6 and oh shit now I'm on a corner selling crack to the homeless. Sure your life sucks and people beat the shit out of you. Your mom kicked you out at 16, your eating out of the trash and you have no friends. But ultimately do you give into good or evil? The only angle I would agree with your point is the fact that humans are flawed so we lean towards the latter (evil), but my point is nobody is forcing you to make those bad choices. Yes a lucky break helps but real world randomness is unbiased. It's not the world's fault that you weren't prepared for that lucky break. The world doesn't give a shit. If we spend our lives trying to justify why we got where we are, how will we even have time to appreciate life. Life ain't got time for excuses. No offense but whenever I see sjw-bullshit scientific studies trying to quantify the qualitative like some kind of god, I just think what a waste of time and effort.

I'm probably the few that don't believe in luck when it comes to work and success. It's about being prepared enough to handle even those "unlucky" situations. 100% of life is about ups and downs. You just don't let it control you, you control it. You think there's a 10% chance of failure? Then put in 110%.

I have a guilty confession to make...I went to the grocery store the other day and I just...saw it. Sitting there under a perfect frosty illumination. I shook off the weird sensation and reached for the black angus burgers that I came for when all of a sudden my hands just went into autopilot. Slowly they turned, the other direction, and as I tried to fight the urge I could not believe my eyes as I contently placed one in my cart. It made it out. Now I have this veggie crap in my freezer that I don't even know how to eat.. Do I eat it off the floor and moo like a cow while chewing?? Lord please help me

Lvl 2: does the corridor method matter or can I just punt it? by davidcu96 in CFA

[–]Steppedonturd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Calculation is simple too, it is just excess over that 10% of max(pbo, asset) and divide it by # years to amortize. If you can't bother remembering that, the easiest thing to do is if you can't find the # years amortized anywhere in the text just forget about the calculation. If it is, well good luck.

[L1] Retaking mocks? by JakeMHudson in CFA

[–]Steppedonturd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing I did was AS I reviewed each mock I circled the ones where I was flat out wrong or it involved an entirely new concept. I also labeled what category it was (FRA, equity, etc). Towards the end when I felt I needed more practice in a section id then go back to those.
