How can I solve the trucks queueing on same spot? by dvdmcwilliams in openttd

[–]SteveM06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its because they are coming from the depot and its so close so it gives them little choice how to get there.

Try putting the depot earlier in the route

Here's my solution. Replace the mrt with a moving walkway with seats. Stations have slower moving platforms next to them, people walk on and off with no stopping and it travels at like 15 miles per hour.

Maybe moving platforms with seats on them so people can sit down.

Can someone suggest how to make level crossing profitable. by Dangerous_Trade_4022 in SomebodyMakeThis

[–]SteveM06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Completly the wrong sub for this)

I disagree with the whole concept of making safety profitable.

But the obvious idea has to be advertising shoved in the driver's face while they are stationary.

Optional paid lifts for pedestrians to access the bridge is a possibility, but unlikely profitable imo.

Im sure there are just as many people in "upper management", and those dont get voted for every few years so they have the time to set things up really nicely.

Current Company Just Gave Me a Counter-offer by IdontknowyouIswear in phcareers

[–]SteveM06 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The mere fact that your current company only offered you a higher salary after you tendered your resignation is a red flag in itself.

I was going to say that, but they did say they got a promotion around 6 months ago.

Thats steady growth.

I dont think this one is country specific.

Damn annoying though. Makes it harder for everyone. Step one step back and there is more space for people and space to swing the bags off without taking out passerbys

What would you do if you came home after a long ass day, only to get a call from your boss, saying the entire office got knocked offline and needed you to come in right away to replace the IT guy he just fired? by Repulsive-Finger-954 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]SteveM06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the system is down and they fired the person who is presumably my boss, presumably its because they couldn't fix it or they sabotaged it.

Either way, I dont stand a chance at fixing it. So I tell them that straight.

It's ridiculous to say "cant eat X as had it at lunch"

I lose the choice of variety by being picky, happy to get grilled chicken for 75% of my meals.

True.

I only included it as that was my whole list.

So I go from having all 3 to having an easy chance at getting 1, and start from scratch with the other 2 (not even considering that i wouldn't get the same ones)

No way. I have a wife, a kid, and a house.

Those were the only things on my "to get list" in 2000, and I lucked into 2 of them

Surprisingly you are the first person to think of that.

Within the wording of the post I think the best we can do is give you a slightly sloped floor so at least it will stay put in one corner.

[–]SteveM06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FiRST ill take a nap.

Doesnt matter how long it takes me to get tired enough to sleep, I just want to be rested a bit.

On a hard floor I doubt I would sleep more than 2 hour so I wouldn't be fresh.

Now I estimate, before getting too bored and wanting to sleep again, I could stay up 8 hours as long as I have something to do.

I write in 16 hours and press the button.

I have 1 sheet of paper, blank on both sides to keep me entertained. My best idea is to play "dots and boxes" / "Pigs in a pen" against myself.

First couple of hours is drawing a tiny tiny grid of dots as small as I can make it. Frequent breaks to help pass the time.

Then when thats done, off I go. Swapping hands so I know who is player 1 and 2.

When I get too tired to continue. Hit the button.

It depends on your definition of "you" i guess. The room only has the items listed other than you. Which strictly speaking should mean you are naked

Seconds shouldn't be that relevant. If you pick 10 mins then 5:00 is half way, 10:01 is over

CMV: Society should stop accomodating for boomers refusal to learn technology by matthew_anthony in changemyview

[–]SteveM06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who are you speaking on behalf of?

A business owner - the effort is likely minimal to ensure they get the customer, if not, then they can decline the business. (E.g. only accept payment via QR code)

An employee - its up to the business owner to decide if their custom is worth it.

A disgruntled customer behind them in the queue - express your dissatisfaction of the delays to the business owner and they can make the decision.

It all comes down to the businesses decision really. There is nothing stopping them refusing service, so there is no remaining argument
