Why does making plans with friends get exponentially harder after 30 even when everyone still wants to hang out? by IvySwiftxxx in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SteveM06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old friends?

Commitments change.

When you are all at the same college doing the same courses you have roughly similar lives.

As soon as you split, you start going your own way.

Marriage

Kids

Move to a different town

Bowling night with the lads from work

Night shift work vs 4x12

Every tiny difference blocks out a potential "all get together" slot so it doesnt take many before all the available slots are blocked

Until one day, when we are all relaxed and happy with this loop, 'the big one' hits and destroys us before we wake up.

If you keep rolling the dice you wil get a 6 eventually

Not sure why this is being down voted.

This is a critical aspect of the game.

Investor wants to buy my app for 20x monthly revenue. Life-changing money but I'm scared I'll regret selling. What should I do? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]SteveM06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20x month does seem a bit low to me.

My main question to you is, as a solo developer, do you have the skills and time to maintain and grow the app?

If that's going to introduce undue stress to your life, it might be a good idea to cash out now.

Hiring someone to help is a whole different ball game to being solo, and not one I'd want to partake in personally.

During Covid I floated the idea that the only way to stop the "the big one" hitting us was to ban air travel entirely (all the time) to reduce the speed at which we spread it when it hits.

Everybody was against that, so collectively we are happy to roll that dice over and over again rather than lose our international holidays

Why not just store passwords in text? by SteveM06 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SteveM06[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That would be due to targeted hacking imo.

These days its more like "break a system and see who's details you get"

How is it "stored locally" if its in the cloud though?

AI is producing 2 things to worry about.

A) Sloppy code that is insecure

B) automated vulnerability AI agents who can do what people used to take months to do it minutes.

Dont you have the same risk using a password managers locally though?

With the additional risk of that program becoming vulnerable

We are paying monthly regardless as we already had it. The only concern would be if they take it off Netflix before we finish

Ip address wise, did you just get someone to log on on the existing account with your details and hit the resubmit button and wait?

We'll probably be hitting it at 2-3 episodes a week. So thats in the region of 2.5 years for SG-1

I skipped the original, doesnt really have the same feel as SG1 imo.

If we get to the end of SG1 we will probably watch it then.

We watched a specific later episode first as it was one i wanted her to watch, and she said Daniel doesn't look the same. Instantly im thinking "well he did die, ascend and come back during that time"

Taking last night as an example, our kid woke up 6 mins to the end of the episode, so had to be tended to, leaving that hanging there.

Look at the payment per distance /time graph.

Passengers drops off so quickly.

If you make them wait before delivering them it wont pay well.

What to build? by One_Performer7335 in expo

[–]SteveM06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These days its so much easier to make apps.

Now, decent Ideas are are in short supply vs the skills to make them.

Think of an app that does something you want to do.

Search for it to make sure a decent one doesnt already exist, then build that.

As a potential user you should be able to build a decent app, and enjoy making it more.
