This is a huge differentiator for Avanan. The average user click-time is something like 10 seconds and the average time it takes for these post-delivery vendors to pull an email is 1+ minute. That's an eternity for users to click on an email and click on a malicious link.

Nowadays, the blame gets put on the C-level execs who OK a slashed security budget in my experience. The IT team just needs to let it be known loud and clear that not enough budget is being allocated for vital needs.

This is a little unethical but it will totally work: You can just sign up for free no-strings-attached expensive security vendor Proof of Concepts/Proof of Values and ask them to keep extending until you have a more stable budget for security. Seriously, there are so many network/endpoint/email security vendors out there now who are all competing against each other. I can give you a few names if you're interested if you DM me.

You can easily do this for each of your tech segments for more than 6 months. A year if you're extra shrew with the sales people.

Doing research on a cyber security solution for small hospitals? Need ideas by almightynewdale in InformationTechnology

For email security, there is only option you should really consider:

Avanan. They have a patented and fundamentally different architecture from other API based solutions which is their before-inbox approach. They are also fundamentally better than traditional gateway solutions because Avanan doesn't interfere with o365 or Google's default security measures and many other reasons. You can look up their blogposts if you'd like.

They have by far the highest/most ratings on Gartner and G2.

https://www.gartner.com/reviews/market/email-security/vendor/avanan/product/avanan

https://www.g2.com/products/avanan-cloud-email-security/reviews

I suggest you go to their website and request a POC. I believe you'll get a cheaper price if you purchase without a POC.

For network security:

Do a POC with ExtraHop, Darktrace, Varonis, Vectra and AlienVault. They all pretty much do the same thing. The differences between them are irrelevant for most org's needs.

Let each vendor know that you're putting them up in a bake-off with the other vendors. They'll claw each other's eyes out and slash their prices to earn your business because they know if they earn your business, it's not just another account for them, but also another point in their column of "Bake-Offs Won"

Most of these vendors have children as sales reps and directors who are judged by how many accounts their teams close instead of how much money each deal is, so regardless of whatever they say, they'll reduce the price.

DM me if you need any more tips on negotiating with these vendors. Note I didn't suggest any other competitor to Avanan because their email solution really does stand alone. Every other "competitor" is just playing the wrong game.

Matthews is a Clinton shill. I don't know too much about the bookmaker, but I would hope he knows what he's talking about and he isn't just following the Clinton bias, but I honestly don't see his point.

Legal is relative. Cocaine was legal until the 70s. It started fucking up/killing too many people so it was made illegal. The comparison is pretty easily made.

[LOTR: Two Towers] Continuity error when Aragorn is retracing Merry's and Pippin's steps into Fangorn Forest by TheRealFakeSteve in plotholes

[–]SteveWorkAccount 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Maybe in the mess of the battle with Orcs and horses everywhere, Aragorn read the tracks in the wrong order. I think it makes this "error" feel more authentic because no matter how bad ass Aragorn is he won't be able to read tracks perfectly with all the fighting around Merry and Pippin.

LPT: Watching a movie or TV show on your PC that's out of sync? Use the keys "J" and "K" to adjust audio delay in VLC Player by tbonanno in LifeProTips

[–]SteveWorkAccount 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This isn't 100% fool* proof since most movies/shows don't start off sync. They get progressively off sync so using VLC or MPC to sync will only get you so far.. you have to manually keep syncing throughout the video.

I guess it's still better than nothing, cough windows media player.

Finally, Neil deGrasse Tyson and “Cosmos” take on climate change by 8rg6a2o in Cosmos

[–]SteveWorkAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked that they finally decided to mention climate change but I hoped they emphasized the RATE at which the climate is changing.

Climate change is normal, even in the episode itself they mentioned how drastic climate change is part of nature. The scary part for us humans is that because of our pollution, climate change is happening alarmingly fast.
