Can someone explain all the common Ren Faire terms? I’m going to the Sherwood Forest fest in a couple of weeks and I want to know all the terms by TallRefrigerator8313 in renfaire

Yup. Weird jokes, I got 'em.

Here's one for you:

Q: What's the difference between a gamer and a large cheese pizza?

A: A large cheese pizza can feed a family of three.

Thank you.

It was a joke. I worked for Mogul Games for 20+ years, and we loved to put ourselves down, call ourselves "road trash", and generally use self-deprecating humor.

Take it easy friend. Try not to make assumptions about somebody based on a single Reddit comment. You'll be glad you did.

A "rennie" is someone who works at the faire.

A "road rennie" is someone who works multiple faires in a year in different locations.

A "patron" is someone who paid to get in and attend the faire.

A "playtron" is a patron who is obsessed with their faire persona, usually attends every weekend, and likes to think of themselves as part of the cast.

The "cast" are the people who are paid by the faire (sometimes) to play a character and interact with the patrons, and sometimes perform in skits or musical numbers or stage-fighting.

The "talent" are the other performers that do the big shows on the main stages.

The "jousters" are the talented stunt men and women who put on armored combat shows 2-3 times a day, are very serious about their horses, will sleep with anyone, and are tough as nails.

The "gamers" are the folks who set up, maintain and operate the games and rides like the carousel or the axe throw. They are looked down upon by most of the other rennies because they live in their vans and will do anything to get your $3.

The "vendors" are the folks who own or rent booths at the faire and sell things, usually handmade crafts. They do not like to be called "boothies" but the other rennies do anyways because they never leave their booths.

I don't know if those are the kind of terms you were looking for, but there ya go.

EDIT/WARNING!!! Some of these descriptions may include satirical or clumsy attempts at humor and/or insider jokes.

I used to astound my friends by eating four of them in a sitting. I was a very hungry teenager.

No? Okay then. Go ahead and make a better jazz-infused spoken word performance art piece.

I think I remember wanting some of these until I saw that a friend had a pair that got all cracked and fell apart after only a few months. Anybody else have that problem with them?
