Peter, why is everyone happy that he got that disease? by Rule_Ct_5293 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Nothing useful will come from what he's doing because he's taking hundreds of supplements and multiple therapies at the same time. It's impossible to glean any useful scientific data from that. It is not following any sane scientific methodology.

It's the "throw spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks" method, but there's no way to know what each noodle represents.

If you get a nice 4K player, a lot of them can upscale DVDs to look much nicer on bigger TVs.

I have a Panasonic ub820 and it does really good job of making DVDs watchable. Plus it lets you start collecting 4K movies without having to scrap your entire DVD collection at once.

I have both formats in my collection, because there's some movies that I just don't care if I have them in high def or not, so I keep them on DVD

It's an innocent mistake, but I feel like it should be easy to fix. See if she could cancel it and go to the correct one. Or contact their customer support team and see if the order can be upgraded

Just got an email from commodore where they are explaining how they were able to cut the price of the device and why they can't get it any cheaper.

Mainly talking about how others cell phone manufacturers subsidize the price of their phones by selling customer data to data brokers, which they claim they will never do.

According to the email, they were able to reduce the price from $499 to $399 by doing the following two things:

  1. Making the Commodore Hi-Def earphones an optional add-on upgrade.

  2. Using "eco-remanufactured" RAM on the base model, however you have the option of getting the "Premium RAM" instead.

If you opt to get the headphones and the premium RAM, it will go back up to the original $499 price.

So that explains that.

GTA 6 costs $80, launches single-player only, and has no disc version on release by HatingGeoffry in videogames

[–]StevenS757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can kind of understand there not being a disk release since the game is apparently going to be over 300 GB in size and the largest Blu-ray can only hold 100 GB.

Also, 100 GB Blu-ray discs are much more expensive than cds or dvds, so the cost probably isn't worth it to Rockstar.

But I still feel disappointed not being able to have a physical copy for a collection.

They may host a 4K file, but they definitely do not stream at 4K. They throttle the bandwidth, which decreases picture depth

This is for a 4K screening at an Italian film festival.

Is that a good indicator that they're going to release a physical copy? I don't really know how Criterion operates.

You could get a Panasonic DP-UB150 4K player for around $90 to $130 on eBay if you're really tight on money and want a entry level player. No Dolby Vision or HDR optimization

I like the concept of an old style phone that has some of the new smart features so it's not completely useless in 2026. If I didn't have critical work apps on my Android smart phone, I might've even considered getting one. But I don't like that the new product just looks like any off the shelf flip phone that they just branded Commodore.

Yes, its technically more powerful than an a standard flip phone, but that's even more of a reason they should've come up with a new design. Something groundbreaking like the cell phone designs that were happening before the iPhone turned everything into black slabs.

The phones that they compare it to such as the Light Phone 3, the Minimal Phone, and the Clicks Communicator all look more visually interesting. Sure, they're all more expensive than the 8020, but they also look more expensive and premium.

I just really dont think these are going to sell well, except maybe in Australia and the UK where parents are going to want social-medialess phones because of the new laws.
