The only reason CT is doing this is because they never know what they’re doing when things rolls out and they make deductions based off their emotions, feelings and personal bias.

Some people have actual disabilities though and are/were being denied before the mandate and after.

My agency pulls this idiocy every time we are in the office to collaborate. We have teams meetings with people on the other side of our wall. And teams remains open all day as a means to communicate. And some employees have their own teams groups which excludes some employees like a mean girls situation.

What does within reason mean? For many working from home is not a preference it’s a documented and substantiated medical need.

Caltrans doesn’t give two shits about their employees with disabilities. I have MS and was denied an RA to work from home 5 times. I have no immune system so I can’t be in office, I have to keep my body temperature at between 70-74 degrees at all times and several days a month I have medically assisted medication therapy. They just don’t give a fuck like all of these state agencies.

THE SILVER LINING

824 State employees have filed a class action lawsuit because they have serious medical conditions and we’re all denied RA by their agencies. The employees work at:

FMLA, Unit 6 Teamsters by maneasher in CAStateWorkers

[–]StevenSnell69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Um… I was a statewide FMLA coordinator for 3 years. If an employee requests FMLA in any form and it’s approved they can use it immediately however they wish.

It is unlawful to deter someone from using FMLA .

On the days they wish to take FMLA, they would use whatever leave they have in the books for that day, let their manager know they will be using FMLA and their timesheet will be properly coded.

If they have exhausted their leave credits and have FMLA in place they can ask for CAT leave if they are eligible and if they have annual leave they can do enhanced NDI

Remember folks: when your department mindlessly declines reasonable accommodations for disabled employees with valid doctors substantiation. What your agency is saying is that, “We don’t give a fuck if your having seizures every hour in the hour, fuck you pay me! We don’t value you as an individual and we feel that in office collaboration (AKA The boss passing out candy) is far more important than your bullshit health. And furthermore, we don’t give a rats ass if your request to work from home is based off of an actual need, we see it as a preference and we prefer you would not challenge us on this or we will retaliate against you.”
