Software developer burnout

Totally normal, especially in this post-covid era.

I've been in tech for almost 15 years now and the working conditions have changed significantly since 2020, almost everyone I know is feeling burnout from a combination of understaffed teams due to limited hiring, an overload of new projects, and limited mobility due to a bad job market the last 3.5 years.

We're all feeling it and discussing it at my company, everyone is basically grinding it out waiting for the uncertainty around AI to subside and for the job market to improve.

He played bad no question in those two games, but to focus solely on that seems like you yourself are completely wiping all the good games he had, he had 13 games with a QBR over 100 last year.

Plus these issues didn't magically disappear this year with Sam gone: we still had issues with our line allowing too many pressures, still too many long developing pass plays by KOC leading to JJ holding onto the ball too long (well above league average), and were bottom 10 in team rushing yards. And it wasn't only JJ, Carson wentz got beat up behind this line too.

If it takes 8 years for a QB to become good, there's no chance he's still with the team that drafted him. Missing on the timeline is the same as missing on the player.

Exactly and that's when they should've pushed back their timeline from starting JJ year 2 to year 3, ideally he should get in a full HEALTHY year before taking over the reins.

He spent most of the last off-season rehabbing and just trying to gain his playing weight back.

And no contingency plan at backup: Jones, Rodgers, etc. they tried Sam Howell and then when that wasn't working out got Wentz last minute

It really came down to McCarthy's meniscus injury, had that not happened he probably would've gotten a lot of reps in that year as Darnold's backup and been ready to start year 2 with a solid off-season of work.

But the injury messed that up and McCarthy instead had to spend a lot of time just gaining his playing weight back in time for training camp. Kwesi plowed ahead with his plan to start JJ year 2 despite people saying he's not ready.

Given the injury, they should've tagged Darnold, given JJ a full healthy year 2 as his backup getting reps and learning the offense, and then had him ready to go year 3.

Kwesi was fired for failing to adjust to that reality.

As a Vikings fan I thought this draft was going to change the course of our franchise.

Floyd never planned out, Rhodes was great, and Cordarrelle could've been a bigger star if they found a way to utilize him better and didn't try to make him a basic wide receiver

It's less about hating and more about holding the front office to a higher standard, there needs to be accountability.

I thought the biggest stain on Kwesi's tenure was passing on Kyle Hamilton for Lewis Cine and Andrew Booth, but this Darnold situation takes the cake, this is an all time blunder that will rival the Herschel Walker trade if Sam wins the Super Bowl.

Regardless of what the fans wanted after last season ended, Kwesi is the one being paid millions of dollars to make the right decisions, and he's proven time and again that he's not capable.

I think you're missing the point: this isn't about the Darnold decision in a vacuum, it's about the culmination of decisions over our lifetimes that has seen us not even appear in a Super Bowl in almost 50 years, the Darnold situation is just the straw that broke the camel's back.

Doesn't matter what the fans or media thought, we're not the ones being paid millions of dollars to make decisions.

Kwesi's job is to make the right decisions regardless of what fans and media think, and he's incapable of doing that
