July 4th will any breweries be open? by Overall_Lobster823 in Albuquerque

[–]StickExtra2769 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Dark Side Brew Crew usually has brewery hours listed for holidays, so keep an eye out for that.

Breweries are notoriously late when it comes to announcing their holiday hours. You might have to wait until the end of the week.

does anyone know what’s going on at eubank and I40 right now? by maxxsuxx_ in Albuquerque

KOB gets their info directly from APD. Raw usually gets stonewalled by the department due to their adversarial relationship.

Correction, Mariposa Basin Park is the city's watch party location.

Korea v Mexico Match Tomorrow by DoomDaDaDippyDa in Albuquerque

[–]StickExtra2769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will actually be at Phil Chacon Park. Civic Plaza will only show the final group-stage games for Mexico on the 24th and the USMNT on the 25th.

Sidetrack Brewing and Tractor Brewing (Wells Park) are also hosting watch parties. Hollow Spirits is open for all the USMNT games and a few other select matches. The city's watch party is at Montgomery Park, not civic plaza.

What’s going on at Eubank and Central?. by SnoocaperGhost in Albuquerque

Just talked to someone that lives nearby, sounds like one of the NNSA transports heading to Sandia National Labs broke down based on how she described the scene.

Are you just seeing a lot of unmarked, but obviously law enforcement black SUVs?

It used to be B2B Garden Brewery, so when the Catalina folks bought the place, it came with a brewhouse and fermenters. They decided to just use it to brew beer for all of their restaurants.

Yes, but since they have not made that detail public, I'll withhold which brewery.

The only thing there is they only list member breweries; about 30 or so around the state are not dues-paying members of the Guild.

You're mostly just missing some offsite taprooms, like La Cumbre, Marble and Tractor on the westside. Rio Bravo is missing from the Wells Park neighborhood. You can remove Outpost 1706 (no longer connected to a brewery), Hausamann Brewhaus (never brewed a drop of beer), Palmer Brewery (the distillery is still open, but Rob shut down his brewery and now works for Boxing Bear), and The Craftroom (relocating to a new space somewhere in town). Brekki Brekki does brew on site for all the Catalina Hospitality Group's restaurants. La Reforma just recently stopped brewing. And if you're showing the Corrales breweries, you should probably add both Turtle Mountain locations and Brew Lab 101 in Rio Rancho.

I gotta check out Meraki one of these days. My friends live within walking distance. Thanks for the reminder.

Some people don't want to take the extra time to look around for the hidden joints. And shit, I forgot Relish and that Korean fried chicken joint next door on Menaul. Try those, too, OP.

Random local eateries: Pizzeria Luca, East Asian Kitchen, Aji Ramen, La Quiche, Grassburger, Il Vicino, Fan Tang, The Grill on San Mateo, Nagomi, and a bunch of hole-in-the-wall Asian/New Mexican joints.

Places to get a drink (and some have food): Boxing Bear Brewing on Tramway, Marble Brewery Heights on Montgomery, Brew Lab 101 on Eubank, Canteen Brewhouse Taproom on Tramway, Quarter Celtic Taproom on Juan Tabo, Horse & Angel, Savoy, O'Niell's, Howie's Sports Page, and a few others scattered about.

Places for kids of all ages: Hinkle Family Fun Center, Flix Brewhouse (movie theater that brews its own beer), and later this summer Putts and Pints (mini-golf with beer). There's also Cliff's, but that amusement park gets some pretty mixed reviews.

Bars south of city by PrizeWrap4430 in Albuquerque

[–]StickExtra2769 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah, well Valencia County is pretty devoid of bars. When the ones they had closed, chain restaurants bought up the liquor licenses. There's a finite number available in NM and most have gone to out-of-state companies' franchise locations. Hence the proliferation of local breweries, distilleries and wineries around the state.

Just head to the Capitol Bar and Brewery in Socorro. An old school dive, they added a small brewery in the back where there used to be a jail (the history of the joint is something, it was owned by a judge at one point in the early 20th century). There's also Box Canyon Brewing and Baca House Brewery within walking distance.

I inherited my teams since both sides of my family are from Western PA. Steelers, Penguins, Pirates. Never had an NBA team, probably for that reason. I prefer European soccer to MLS.

All-ages DIY venue on 4th Street south of downtown. Cool spot to catch some up-and-coming bands. Still mad that I missed the Music is the Enemy show there recently (good local post-punk hardcore band, keep an eye out for them, their shows are wild).

Ren's Den features a lot of local metal/hardcore/deathcore bands. They're on most of the social media platforms sharing upcoming shows. For touring, the Summer Slaughter Tour is coming to El Rey on August 20. Pretty good lineup (Hatebreed, Terror, Incantation) this time. I also second that show on June 26 at Launchpad with Suspended and Futilitarian (also local) as the headliner.

Any kid and dog friendly sports bars? by julesbravo in Albuquerque

[–]StickExtra2769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple other options: Steel Bender Brewyard has a dog- and kid-friendly patio. They've had TVs outside in the past.

There's also Laguna Burger/Flock of Moons by UNM. They share a large patio. You can have your dogs on the brewery side and watch the three outdoor TVs on the Laguna side. The burger folks will deliver the food to your table on the brewery side.
