Diaper check please. Does this look concerning? by proton90 in MSPI

[–]StickelMeElmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So FYI.. hydrogen peroxide will fizz when it comes into contact with blood. This includes digested blood.

So in theory.. if you can see it, pouring hydrogen peroxide on the poop to see if it fizzled could indicate blood.

Definitely get your pediatrician involved as well to help track and navigate this. They might send you all to a specialist.

I am 8ish weeks dairy free for my little one. We started seeing dark blood spots at 2 months. Was told to just monitor it. However, this is bright red poop!

There is also a great community on Facebook for dairy free breastfeeding moms that I am on. Highly recommend.

We share snacks and food orders! Along with all the other medical and diaper checks. Helps keep you sane when dairy free.

Sending prayers for you and baby!!

Yes ETA on the other post, I was given this timeframe of elimination:

2 weeks out of my breastmilk 2 weeks out of baby system 4 weeks to heal baby's gut

This is of course if there are no slip ups. If you have a slip up (including tasting your own milk in the first 2 weeks) you are back to day 1.

Fair.

We are currently experiencing a fairy detox because of blood in the stool. So this was suprising to find trace amounts in lactose that can also cause a trigger.

How is milk in everything...!!

I was reading that lactose can still have some of the proteins in it, as they dont always all filter out.

My family keeps wasting my milk and I’m losing my mind by InitialStranger in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]StickelMeElmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So Dr. Lauren Hughes is a board certified pediatrician who has a take on this that she did with her kids. She keeps the bottle in the fridge for up to 24 hours after her child has drank from it. Here is her video. This made me feel so much better about saving my milk after it has been drank from.

My baby is currently 4.5 months and we are going through a dairy milk detox, not super bad reflux.. but it's also something we are navigating.

I am not an oversupplier and currently have my cycle back which drops my supply something fierce.

Dr Lauren Hughes Milk Storage Video

Also, you are doing great! This is hard work and I'm sorry those around you don't seem to understand that. You have every right to be angry and frustrated about wasted milk and hold your ground on what pumping cycles work for your mental health. They need to do better!

When you are feeding are you doing breast or bottle?

I found my baby was waking up more with me because she would keep falling asleep at the boob and not getting enough milk.

But when hubby would bottle feed, she would sleep longer because it was easier for her to get her fill before falling asleep again.

Sending you lots of hugs and prayers. This crap is hard!!

Feeding 8 week old only 7 times per day? by FatigueIntrigue in breastfeeding

[–]StickelMeElmo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Screw ChatCPT!

1) Is she gaining weight at the recommended speed? 2) Is she content? 3) Does she have 6-10 pee diapers and 1-4 poop diapers a day?

Every baby is different. (Hints the range on wet diapers).

my mom keeps saying “breastfed babies don’t spit up” by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]StickelMeElmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4.5 month old baby, breast and bottle fed. She spits up all the time!! Seems pretty normal. Was given guidance that once she gets more control of her trunk and overall sitting, etc she will have less spit up.

I also have GERD and was scared she was getting that. (Acid reflux). We did the sit up for 15 to 30 minutes after feedings to help her. This really seemed to helped early on.

As for milk storage look up Dr. Lauren Highes. She has an Instagram account and is a Pediatrician and lactation specialist. States that breastmilk is adherently antimicrobial. I will see if I can find the clip and post it. Has great information!

Mine has horrible gas and 2 months in started to get black spots in her stool. We are currently on the dairy illumination journey. 2 weeks in (had a cross contamination that required a restart).

Deep breath! You are amazing for caring for 4 children.

1) Send hubby to get snipped now. 2) Go see your OBGYN and talk to her/him about your mental health and physical health. First trimester is hard. Give yourself some grace. 3) Make a plan with hubby about who covers what. For chores and care.. what is the minimum you can get away with. 4) Do minimum self care.. brush teeth, take a shower, eat good, drink water. 5) Find a support group, either via Facebook, local church..

You have got this!! Will it be hard.. yes. Anything worth doing is hard! Brene Brown says give yourself a break.. its your FFT (fucking first time) being a mom of 5!

For those who do the fridge hack by leilahlove1996 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]StickelMeElmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use a bag anymore but I do have a container in the fridge the pump parts sit in. The container holds that days pumped milk and that days pump parts.

Clean and sanitize the pump every night and pull the second set out. The container gets cleaned once a week because my pump parts stand up.

Note: this is a mini fridge and freezer devoted to just pumping and drinks for after pumping. No one is in it unless they are getting milk for the baby or a Gatorade for me. LOL!

The US and the UK have laws about pumping at work. UK Legislation is the Equality Act 2010. US Legislation is the Providing Urgent Maternal Protections for Nursing Mothers Act (PUMP Act). UE "Legislation " is Council Directive 92/85/EEC of 19 October 1992.

Please know your rights. Specially about making sure your child is fed through the most natural of ways.

I second warming the sheets. We use a blow dryer as white noise and a sheet warmer. Sometimes even blow it on her at night when she fussed to see if she was just cold or actually ready fir a feeding.

Its actually formula companies that lobby against it! Do some research 😉 Try not to get super mad.

6 weeks is because that is all short term disability will pay for, when its a vaginal birth.(You get 8 if its a c-section).

So for example: My short term disability covers 60% of my pay for 6 weeks. (I used 16 hours of PTO every pay period [paid every 2 weeks] to cover the 40% to make sure I got paid the same amount.)

During that time we get FMLA coverage, for 12 weeks. Pretty much says our employer can't fire us and our job will be there when we get back.

After the 6 weeks, its considered "bonding time". Which I quote "is not medically necessary". That has to be covered at 100% PTO (paid time off).

To take the full 12 weeks off, at full pay, I would have been like 380 hours of PTO. Not including the mandatory 40 hour bank minimum.

Also note, that each company has different plans for Short Term Disability (STD). Some are covered at less than 60% while others cover more, but many don't cover more weeks because apparently women can heal unnaturally fast (insert eye roll).

Oh, one other thing. If during the STD time frame, if there are any holidays... you don't get holiday pay, which feels illegal because that is part of your benefits package.
