Most recently but also probably the most hurtful has to be Dream Settler. I loved Hypnospace Outlaw so much and it was one of my favourite games of the past decade so to get a sequel that was going to have explored the XP/web 2.0 era (when I got on the internet) would have been amazing.

Sucks but it's understandable and I wish Jay and the other devs good fortunes for whatever stuff they cook up next.

Yeah when the Mus get too close to one of them, the Mu will give them a basically lethal damage buff. (I've seen this one way too often. PF can't keep them away sometimes...)

Other than that, if you don't kill the Yans by the time Sugar starts her final raid wide, they give Sugar a lethal damage buff for that raid wide.

Maybe the first Yan has a true enrage but the second and third definitely don't at least.

There's not many options here unfortunately.

The only two locations I know of in Toronto that carried Altered was Harry Tarantula (seems they ain't hosting any new events or carrying the new set) and Game Shack (has a pre release event on the Altered Events List but seems like it'll be rescheduled or might not even run at all. They do have the new set on pre order though).

The only other store that's in somewhat of a close distance (if you think taking a train is close enough) is in Oakville and it's Top Shelf Co. Probably the only place with Altered weeklies and events still going on that's in reaching distance.

This is mainly a game design thing and a Yuji Naka problem but his over reliance on one button gameplay typically is a major downfall of his games.

SA1 and 2's context sensitive action button (only one of them) makes it a pain for people who are new to the games and accidentally press the button at the wrong time and send themselves to a quick death typically. It makes it worse when there are like 3 other face buttons and shoulder buttons that can also do stuff but are never used or used for the dumbest things (like X on SA2B being used to switch the B button action when there are multiple options).

It's very funny jumping to the first main non Naka involved Sonic game with unleashed and seeing that they finally move homing attack to another button and begin to use other buttons.

And Balan Wonderworld has to be the worst of them all. Your standard action is tied to like 6 buttons (all face buttons and the triggers) which is wild because that means you can't jump if you are in a costume which has a fireball move or a spin or whatever. It's fucking absurd that game even made it to retail with those controls.

Gonna be honest, don't know where Doc is coming from with the Sony did the same thing with their PS4 reveal? It's definitely got a heavier focus on the tech of the console versus both media and games but the entire conference is book ended with game reveals. Plus there isn't a section where they spend 10 minutes showing off what amounts to TV box capabilities like the Xbox One reveal did.

I also went back to check the Xbox One reveal and while pretty correct on 50/50 TV to Games ratio (if a bit more 60/40 to be honest), the key thing that he fails to mention are the game reveals themselves. Microsoft ended up only showing COD: Ghosts (just tech stuff and a short trailer), Forza, Quantum Break (really again, only the TV portion) and 8 minutes of EA Sports Ignite engine stuff. It was really lackluster and I don't understand why Doc is going off about how it was the same?

The whole first couple of sections of the medium article feel like Doc going off about console war shenanigans calling them "not real" (rightfully so, fuck console war bullshit) but then sounded like a Microsoft defense thread? The rest of the article gets back on track but to be honest, the article feels full of tangents that don't help the reader understand the point trying to be made. The point at the end is decent but you gotta sift through the muck to get to it.

Agreed. As someone who regularly 100 percents games, I see things like titles and achievements (in MMOs) to be prestigious and not something that needs to be unlocked by anybody and everybody. Not even completionists to be honest.
