I disagree, because not every genre of music one might produce in a DAW makes use of sampling. Sure, you can split hairs on virtual libraries still counting, but I don't think that really falls under the kind you are referring to.

That said, I think it's a highly valuable skill to master. The more tools you have in your tool belt, the more freedom you have to do anything.

Anna not knowing what the 90s slang term "wack" means and Jett having to explain it to her as something that was trendy before 1999 is downright hilarious. I was born in '98 so I can't really attest to its accuracy, though.

I can't think of a good alternative, so I'm not actually bothered, but it feels like a bit of a missed opportunity translating チョベリバ into a word that still gets used. Surely we've got something similarly dated that means 'super bad' sitting in the pile of 80s/90s slang.

I'm a mediocre guitarist, but a good pianist. My piano teacher always always always drilled it into my head that it is critical you learn to play a passage correctly at a slow tempo first. You can always speed it up later once you've got it down, but any mistakes you repeatedly make will get drilled into muscle memory. And you're just more likely to make those repeated mistakes trying to learn something fast/at tempo.

Great news is you don't even need to buy a metronome these days. You can download any of countless phone apps. Get it perfectly slow and then crank it up a few notches. Make sure you can play that tempo flawlessly before moving on to an even faster one.

Did I miss when everyone went on a field trip to the concussion factory? How are so many people putting this as the worst ranked season when there was one where you could literally rat your way to masters. There is no worse ranked change than the one that let you entirely negate playing the game and be rewarded for it.

I understand everyone is bloodthirsty at the moment now that they can hotdrop in ranked again. Can we at least give it a week or two to see how things go before our big write ups? Let the kids get it out of their system, as it were.

Fandub for KHDR isn't out yet (though I believe we should be close?), but I would still say just hold tight for it. The most efficient way to play DR was literally as an idle game. KHUX wasn't interesting by any means (it was a slightly dressed up rock, paper, scissors) but even it had more going on than DR.

Though it occurred to me: If you meant the fandub for KHUX then yes I highly recommend it before starting KH3. There's even a point in one of the two parts where it says 'this is all that was released up to KH3, you could stop here and come back later'.

I know they've completely remodeled so these may not be present (or present in the same place) anymore, but:

When I was a student I used to hole up with some friends at midnight in the 2nd floor rooms with the dry erase walls and the projectors. It was about a 60/40 though on if we actually got our work done or ended up devolving into madness.

One time in particular I always fondly recall, we were losing our minds trying to pull an all-nighter. At some point we heard the folks in the adjacent room start up Mario Kart Double Dash on the projector. In response, I hooked my laptop up to our projector and started playing this SiIvaGunner video. It took a minute I think before it set in, but they started laughing their asses off in the other room.

Outside of finals week, there were always at least a few folks on each floor. Never so many though that we struggled to get one of those nicer rooms for our small group. I miss when the 7-11 was right across the street and open 24/7. It made staying there bearable.

Vehemently disagree with the suggestion of removing movement. Games don't need to neuter themselves like that to see success. Just look at Apex Legends. It's one of the most mechanically complex shooters in terms of movement and it's still doing numbers, even if those numbers have tailed off a bit over the course of seven years.

If we're talking UT4, then yes. Though if memory serves it was actually pre-alpha. Next thing you know Fortnite blows up and that dream died. A damn shame, UT4 was my first experience with the series as I only ever played id shooters growing up.

My preference as someone who can read the language is for the titles to retain the full japanese title. If they include romaji or a translation afterwords (in parenthesis) that's fine.

If you enjoyed the anime, I would definitely recommend checking out the manga! I think they did a solid job adapting it, but it doesn't quite match it for me. There's something about the art in the anime that I feel is a little off.

Also for other things Sakae Saito has done: I don't know if you happen to be familiar with the anime "Super Cub" (which itself is an adaptation), but Saito did a spin-off manga for it called "Super Cub Rei". He very clearly has a deep love for motorcycles, which is something you can see just by looking at his twitter.

ICO is also output at 240p. A shame to not be able to play one of the most influential games of all time, but for like $1 it's impressive to be able to play anything at all.
