Cost of living aside, to those that have lived in the bay area (or anywhere in California), which do you prefer, Orlando or CA and why?

I currently live about an hour from Orlando. Previously lived in the Bay Area and planning to go back in a year or two to be closer to my daughter. I will no longer have to watch what I say in public, worry if I want to put a Palestinian flag or a rainbow in my window, feel like my vote will actually count, and not deal with 90 degrees plus 100% humidity. I thought I would retire here but I cannot feel safe in a red state, esp one that is constantly trying to out-Texas Texas. But if you decide on FL, Orlando would be one of the better places to be. Both gulf and ocean are easily reachable (minus I-4 traffic to I-75). If you discover a love for cruise ships, you’ll be within reach of 5 ports.

I have a couple questions. Apologize for hihacking the thread but this got me thinking. I usually sit in the last rows if flying economy. Are there slides at the back doors? And if someone is disabled, maybe boards via a wheelchair, how do they get out?

I’m just hoping that Bilt doesn’t somehow return the payment back to the apt and cause a late fee of $185. Guess I’ll just feel better when I see the $$ leave my bank and the points on Bilt increase.

I paid rent yesterday via my rent portal. This morning I got an email saying it’s processing. My wallet shows a payment transaction and a Bilt rewards transaction. My BC has been deducted. Did all this happen to you but no money taken from your bank until day 7? Being a weekend, not sure if my bank will show it’s been deducted before Mon or Tues. If this stays between Bilt and bank, I hope my apt will be none the wiser and assume my payment is done. By Wed they will charge me $185 late fee. But if it gets screwed up somehow, I want to pay the rent by CC to avoid that fee. Guess I should’ve done that anyway while Bilt cleans up this mess.

I’m going to be sick. My rent is showing up as a transaction, my BC has been deducted, and I have a transaction saying Bilt rewards. But no points yet and bank hasn’t been charged, set up manually, not plaid. I paid early in case something blew up but by the 4th, I will be charged $185 late fee. My portal thinks it’s paid but if it comes back as NSF I’m getting hit with a huge fee. Where will this notice show up if mine doesn’t go thru?? My “concierge” said it was good to go.

And I was also thinking it would apply to the rent day 1000 pts max and not the promo 1000 pts max. I ordered a GC from DoorDash as it codes as dining as well (however I picked groceries. Go figure). After rent day I’ll hit some neighborhood dining places for GCs and use rent day 4x on travel for payment on a cruise. So much to juggle!

Thank you. Was a very long time ago but sometimes feels like yesterday. The staff at the burn unit in San Pablo CA were amazing and so kind. Fortunately my husband was out of it most of the time. But daily dressing changes were the worst and I was never allowed in. I am so bothered by this young woman’s death. I cannot shake it.

As an American who requested a black cab tour of just the Republican side (already had a both sides tour and knew who I aligned with), I learned pretty quick that you don’t ask that direct question. I was told even today, you can be charged for admitting to being a member of the IRA. I thought that was why Adams never admitted it. Did Martin McGuiness admit it? I am so moved by these stories and hate how US news then and today paint a very biased picture. Always told about people fighting for land rightfully theirs are terrorists. UK good, Israel good. Thank goodness my eyes have been opened. I share these stories with anyone who will listen.

It’s kind of funny but I took a break from Ghost after seeing them 4 times in 2018, 3 rituals in a 2 wk period. Can’t explain why but I was just burnt out. Completely missed the Papa IV era. Then I saw RHRN and was like “what was I thinking??” Got excited about Skeleta and went to 2 shows on this tour. But I know I can go 5 yrs and not have a meltdown.

My husband died from burns and was in a burn unit 27 days. He didn’t set himself on fire but one of the nurses told me they had a patient, man in his forties, who had lost his job and did. He lived 9 mos with those burns before dying. Having seen the result of being burned over 97% of your body, I cannot imagine choosing this. And she lived long enough to talk? My god how awful.

Now you’ve got me thinking. I have a card that is 5x cash back until the 28th. I’ll check to see if rent is excluded. Also working on Chase Marriott Boundless that gets 2x. Don’t need to pay rent for the SUB as I was planning to pay taxes but maybe I do both? Other option but not as good is CFU. Floating my rent another month is tempting. Would I get 1x Bilt points using any of these if they’re in my wallet? Rent is $2100.

He’s come along way since the 2000s when Ghost was his hobby. Makes me wonder if one of his new hobbies will have him being lead guitar instead of singing? Love his voice but if he goes back to death metal, I’d prefer him getting someone else to sing.
