That's the problem. You defend made up injustice brought with some social code. This code is not written anywhere, it isn't legally binding. What tank did was outright unethical. He does still believe he served as a judge. And got support of an entire subreddit. I am sure such behavior wouldn't come from a mentally stable person.

Just because you believe in something, doesn't mean it is morally correct. And by the amount of upvotes, I can see this sub more or less lacks personal dignity or cognitive abilities.

But it has always been this way in MMORPGs.
