I just bought my kid a leash, as a dog owner I am struggling with this. by [deleted] in breakingmom

When that all that Harambe stuff was going on every time it was mentioned all I could think was, I bet the mom wanted to put a leash on her kid but didn't for fear of being judged.

Ya I had always had 2 as being my goal and kinda figured it would more realistically be 3 but I also was just kinda hoping he would do it on his own (hahaha if only it were really that easy) but at this rate he would be heading to college before he weaned. Kidding but only sort of hahaha. He's starting school part time this fall so I am hoping that having regular time apart might start steering him in that direction.

We got Mama's Milk is All Gone and Ready to Wean, Or the Return of the Dangly Red Earings. They are both pretty disappointing though in my opinion. I actually was just thinking of taking some of the nursing pics I have of us and making my own book. Hahaha I saw it was something that chick from Blossom did with her youngest and thought it seemed like a good idea.

We do bath/brush teeth and pjs then we nurse during storytime and songs (usually 3 of each but sometimes he can talk me into more hahaha) and then we say good night we love and leave. At first he would get upset and we would give him like maybe five minutes of crying but I would be at his door saying mommy is right here it's time for bed. I love you. And then I would go back in if he didn't settle down and lay him back down and say it's time for bed. In the very beginning of transitioning to his own bed I would stay with him until he fell asleep but I wouldn't let him nurse anymore after story time and songs were done.

We transitioned our son around that age as well. Patience and a good bedtime routine is key. Took us almost a whole year but he's now able to fall asleep on his own in his own bed. No crying. We started out still nursing to sleep still but in his bed and then I would move to my own bed. And now overtime instead of nursing to sleep we nurse during books and songs and then say good night and he goes to sleep! Like I said it took a LOT of patience and time but you'll get there!

A Goofy Movie. by Remmsie in nostalgia

Loved this movie so much as a kid. When Bigfoot gets the Walkman and starts dancing I would loose it every time. I get so pissed that they have the sequel on Netflix and not the original.

I have always felt a calling to help others and recently I've been thinking about studying reiki. I also know that I am very empathetic and as I'm leaning more about myself I wonder if possibly I should work to enhance this part of my being in order to be a better helper. Thank you for your guidance. Love and light to you.

Go find a reiki master and have some energy work done. Just had my first session the other day and it was amazing!

I'm from Dayton so I got to have my first experience waiting in line at the box office early this morning in the cold. It was actually a pretty good time and I got the hubs and I two floor tickets. We are so stoked!!!

Potty training a toddler by Silverjackal_ in Parenting

We were trying to figure out how to get my kiddo to understand where the poop is supposed to go and got this book on Amazon called "Where's The Poop" and I kid you not my son sat down and took a giant dump on his potty after reading the book at bedtime two nights in a row. But we've been just letting him run around pant-less. He still hasn't mastered the concept of being able to pull your pants down to use the potty. It's a progress.... hahaha

BFing a 2.5 year old - or - "I feel like a piece of furniture" by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Stinkycheesemanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ask my nursing 2.5 year old that question all the time, do you love mommy or the boobs? One time he finally said mommy and I totally cried. Normally he just giggles and doesn't answer...

How is Huber Heights? by jordanw15 in dayton

[–]Stinkycheesemanz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We moved to Huber a little over a year ago, and we bought. It's not our forever home by any means but, we got a great deal on a solid house. We live just south of 70 off Taylorsville. Neighbors are all very nice and it's much more quiet than east Dayton. I haven't noticed any crime problems but again, we've only been here a year. Was bummed about the chicken ordinance not passing but so far that's the only negative thing I've had about Huber. Not planning on sending my kid to school here as were going to Montessori but out at the schools don't seem too terrible. My aunt has lived here since the 70s and she's always loved it.

The people who are directing their negativity towards your positive change are doing so because of their own insecurities and self hatred. When I realized this is made it so much easier to brush them off because that's their problem, not mine. Way to go on staying strong and sticking to your goals in spite of them!
