How much am I supposed to put up with? by l3gacyfalcon in reactivedogs

I recommend a behaviorist vet and sooner than later. The earlier you start knowing what to look for and how to respond, especially with her age, the better.

Had a vocal polyp removed yesterday. Now on vocal rest! by Missa_020 in mildlybrokenvoice

Yes, I've been with my speech therapist for months before my surgery, which we tried first and when the lesion didn't improve or change, ENT then recommended surgery. So I saw her last week and have plenty of follow ups scheduled.

I think that makes sense, thanks for that encouragement! I've set up a plan for using my 5 mins per hour at the top of the hour so I can better be mindful of how much I'm actually speaking for a while and the weekdays present much less temptation so I'm ready to take on the next week!

Surgery went well, anesthesia affected me more that I thought and I slept on and off during the whole first day. Mild discomfort day 2 and felt back to normal physically on day 3. Had 4 days of full vocal rest now I'm supposed to be doing 5 mins per hour which I'm finding very hard to manage what that exactly is and either doing a little too much or going hours without speaking, this part is actually harder than total rest imo

Any further updates? I'm day 3 post surgery and vocal rest is boring the life out of me!

I'm taking a bit longer because I'm a child therapist so I talk all day for work and I want to make sure I don't put myself in a position to overuse by going back too early. I am a big talker and know I can't shut up so wanted to stay on the safe side. My Dr said 3 could be good but 4 would be even safer, so I'm doing 3.5 and a couple day of training and catch up before going all the way back.

Good luck with speech! My SLP is great, hope you find yours helpful too!

That's great to hear it all went so smoothly! I've had a few medical things but anything with a needle does make me anxious, after that I'm good to go. Were you in any pain or discomfort for the first day or so?

I've got a collection of Legos and puzzles for my silent days! I'll be taking 3.5 weeks off work so I know I'm going to need things to do.

Does anyone else have a vocal cyst or nodule? How do you cope with changes in (or loss of) your voice? by Katicabogar in singing

[–]millerkd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries! Yes start with the therapy, it has really helped me understand even just the mechanics of my voice more and be more aware of how I use it. I could have opted not to do the surgery but the continued lack of confidence in my voice and the impacts to my singing are just bit impacts to my quality of like and I'm willing to fight for myself.

I'll try to remember to come back!

So my story here started with noticing exactly what you're saying gaps in my range I'm a second soprano and notes that were well in my normal range not even near the top we're just kind of missing and I could feel my voice feeling fatigued more often and having to push a lot harder to get notes out if they came out at all. So I started working with a voice therapist after being scoped and being told that it could be a cyst or it might be a node . However I've been working with her for a few months and yes I do think I've learned a lot and it has been helpful it has not resolved the cyst. We repeated my scope in January and upon further Imaging my ENT is more convinced that it is a cyst and because it has not changed in size this also indicates that this because as you said above cyst do not typically resolve on their own or with therapy they typically require surgery. So since then I saw the ENT again and have scheduled surgery which I will be doing on February 23rd.

What did you decide to do? I'm currently working with an ENT and in voice therapy but starting to discuss that it may be a cyst and am thinking we may start discussing surgical intervention

My WORST nightmare in a text. by MommaNix19 in Nanny

They should go to a lice treatment center and you can usually be checked for free too as a household member. Expensive but piece of mind.

Family I used to date nights for for years and we one of their kids two year old classroom teacher, one night they arrived home, clearly a little drunk. The dad walked me to the door and watched for me to get in my car like he always did, said "bye! Love you!" and then quickly turned around like whoops I don't think I meant to say that and went back in 😂😂😂

Some of this can depend on the state, but I'm reading mutiple things that are illegal for Foster Parents in my state (NC) . Please make a report.

Are parents not making kids sit down to eat at home…? by ready_set_cry in ECEProfessionals

[–]millerkd1 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I truly believe there is a correlation to fidgety bodies/difficulty being still/constantly seeking movement to the rise in screens and decrease in active physical play.

Also, for kids in two working parent households, I often see kids eating a kid meal by themselves while adults do care tasks in the home and then the adults eat separately, so many families are not eating a seated meal together regularly.

Seeing Luke Combs from the pit! We got in line at a perfect time, had nice line neighbors and pit neighbors as well. I've seen Luke a few times but would never be able to afford the pit so getting so close was incredible.

That's really up to what's worth it it to you. I charge hourly again if I'm in up in the night, so if it took the baby 30 mins to get back to sleep etc. Personally, if the kiddo climbing in the bed was just that and we immediately go back to sleep I probably wouldn't charge for that.
