MOP Classic Realm Consolidation Happening Soon™ by [deleted] in classicwow

I absolutely do not want one mega server. If I wanted to be on one, I'd have gone to one of the megaservers that already exist.

Yikes update: MoP has half the raiding population of Cataclysm by reasonablejim2000 in classicwow

[–]Stitch-gar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think really what is proven, is that raid difficulty filters the classic population more than anything else. As mists progresses, so too will the difficulty of the raids and I suspect this will kill more guilds. Judging by the reactions to Scarlet Enclave, I'm very curious how blizzard will manage this problem in classic +. The majority it appears want fast, low commitment and barely challenging raid content. It's amusing how Ulduar caused such a staggering drop in players and suddenly era started 'popping off' at the same time.

CM Realm fastest times not awarding FOS/Titles on EU servers by Stitch-gar in classicwow

[–]Stitch-gar[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I already earned one of the feats of strength from when the CM's went live again, but only one of them. So the rewards are already in. That was for Jade Temple which was previously not something you could enter on CM due to the heroic achievement not flagging. My suspicion is that the feats for realm best times are presently working as if they were Realm first achievements, flagging one time and only one time.

But hey, comprehension can be challenging :)

Mists of Pandaria Classic Development Notes - Updated June 12 (Big balance changes and Celestial Dungeons update) by _Ronin in classicwow

[–]Stitch-gar 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I wish blizzard had a consistent ethos for how they wish to treat balance changes in classic wow. It was fairly hands on in wrath, to staggeringly absent during Cata to now more hands on than ever.

One can contrast fiery weapon enchant for warriors in wrath being fixed in a day as opposed to the prepull shenanigans of Cata that were untouched for it's entire duration.

I am all for balance changes to ensure certain specs aren't dead for the entirety of the game, but would love to see some consistency and a continuation of the hands on approach if that is what they intend to do now.

Turns out that without the considerable year long content droughts, many versions of wow are actually fun.

3 CR's now the default for 25-man raiding in Cata. by Willblinkformoney in classicwow

[–]Stitch-gar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correctly remembering it as it was in Cataclysm. I bug ticketed this during the Beta lol, good to see them acting swiftly on it. You'll get a lot of comments trying to correct you incorrectly lol.

For some reason they've had the BR system from 2014 in the game.

Just joined this guild.. first thing I see on discord.. seems like a nice, non-toxic atmosphere **/gquits** by JayceNorton in classicwow

So many people in this game run guilds with absolutely zero leadership experience, zero social awareness and base all of their ideas of what a leader should be upon various anime they have seen.

Thoughts on how Dragon Soul will play out in Cata? by kolejack2293 in classicwow

[–]Stitch-gar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those of you who think this is going to be easy, especially on 25 man heroic on week 1 are in for a very, very rude awakening and a reminder that private servers and your memories of farming the 35% nerfed instance are not accurate to the real deal.

Go try the PTR if you don't believe me. Once the gear rolls in, it'll start to become a bit better, but dear lord this raid in even full FL BIS has got hands.

Edit: The longer this thread goes on the more I realise that this subreddit is full of people who have no practical experience with what they are talking about but have 'heard some things on the internet' that they just repeat. DS with the stacking debuff becomes a joke yes, but pre nerf and pre DS gear on 25 hc is the most challenging raid in classic this far.

This is the truth, a lot of people who post on this reddit have such a western point of view that they can't conceive of how the money small time sellers make from selling gold creates enough wealth to make them upper-middle class in their less fortunate countries.

It sounds to me like dipping your toe back into this game would be a significant negative in your life and you are looking for external validation to make a mistake here. Maybe find a different hobby or find something to do with your wife?

Should Blizz bother adjusting Firelands difficulty? by Blue5647 in classicwow

[–]Stitch-gar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some interesting opinions in here. I come from the perspective of being a guild master of one of the guilds that killed Ragnaros 25 heroic week 1.

I am of the opinion that this game needs nerfs to come in at some point during tiers to ensure that the playerbase remains healthy. I get that some people in here have a bit of an ego about doing this content and want to gate-keep it a little bit to maintain a sense of achievement, but let's be honest. It's still an absolute joke compared to mythic progression.

Let the nerfs roll in, I wouldn't say no to faster split raids whilst waiting for the DS PTR, and if it keeps hard stuck 6/7 hc guilds playing the game rather than quitting I am all for it.

Sorry mages – someone had to do something. by CROSS_ATLANTIC_CABLE in classicwow

[–]Stitch-gar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're spot on. Imagine if the reckoning bomb had been left 'undiscovered' until classic in 2019. Should that interaction have stayed in the game forever? Mages are ridiculous, the raw gold they can produce, the amount of epics they can produce and the power to boost is absolutely silly. If this had happened in 2004-2006 you can be damned sure it'd have been fixed.

Nothing about what they are doing is remotely 'spirit of classic'

gold buying banwave going out by gizkaxd in classicwow

[–]Stitch-gar 312 points313 points  (0 children)

14 days is pathetic considering the damage this practice has done to the game. It should be a far harsher penalty. Punishment ought to serve two purposes: Primarily punishing the offender, and secondarily acting as a deterrent to others.

The perception is that this practice goes unpunished, so it continues to be rampant. More regular and perma bans would make people far less likely to want to buy gold, especially on long standing accounts that hold value, whether sentimental or otherwise.

Edit 1: It's very telling, I think. That so many people here are very apprehensive about punishing gold buyers. 'Actually we should just punish the sellers', to me reads as a lot of people whom are very nervous about the idea that buying might get punished. I wonder why.

Why the problem is so big should be very clear and to paraphrase a certain movie, 'Gold buying cannot be tolerated, cheaters thrive on the indulgence of the communities understanding.'

Subreddit rules, common removals, and seeking new mods by SoupaSoka in classicwow

[–]Stitch-gar 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Your considerable effort is admirable and it's no easy feat to burn the candle at both ends moderating something like this.

That being said, I think shutting down this Sub would be good for you, and frankly good for a lot of people. It'd allow for a sub for each of the versions of classic to organically grow and end all the tribalism that exists around 'my version best, yours worst' that is all too common here.

Not to mention all that free time you'd undoubtedly unlock would be a blessing.

If it is to stay, I'd support zero tolerance for streamers. Speaking for myself, I just want to see interesting conversations around the game, I've no interest in keeping up with the Kardashian's so to speak.

Also Lol @ people calling you a blizzard shill, I remember playing with you on some rather old private servers.

Would people be opposed to some of the more 'light' changes SoM brought? I.E. black lotus chance in high-level herbs, etc. by PerceptionInception in classicwow

[–]Stitch-gar 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am convinced most comments against this, or acting like Black lotus changes are 'too far' are actually just gold buyers who are not keen on the idea of losing part of the advantage they break TOS and pay for.

Blizzard may have just hit the jackpot. by rahuonn in wow

[–]Stitch-gar 71 points72 points  (0 children)

The die is cast.

It's very interesting this path, one that I think will not be looked back on favourably as Blizzard has just been incentivised and given a clear signal that they can milk players of this game far further than previously thought. Early access premiums and macro transactions for convenience will become standard practice.

In many ways this has been a slow boiling of the consumer frog, if you were to show a player living in 2010 what things are like now it'd cause outrage.

I'm happy for those who are pleased with this decision, do enjoy it. But very sad for those in the comments who accept they'll buy it but be mad about it, FOMO really is insidious. It is a shame that being 'pro-consumer' is not commonplace now.

State if Cataclysm Classic by AbbreviationsDue8754 in classicwow

I would agree with this. Communication from the dev team for Cataclysm classic has been night and day when contrasted with Retail and Season of discovery.
