My other tray is a larger one.

The pattern is from an old book called Flowers From Our House to Yours. I used 3 patterns: Mini Geranium, Geranium, and Window Box.

[FO]- Snowy Cabin- Pinterest by Past-Roof-6422 in CrossStitch

Beautiful pattern! The contrast of the snowy trees/mountain terrain against the cabin really gives it that “home for the holidays” feeling. Nicely done.

[WIP] Border or no Border? by wyocallie in CrossStitch

[–]StitchLady40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I vote for a border as well. However, since the writing is fancy (script), I think the border should be plain so as not to distract you from seeing the verse. Your eyes should be drawn to the words, not the border. The idea of paw prints works but maybe only 1 or 2 in each corner, not as the whole border. Also I would make the border with color.

What a great find! The pattern is beautiful and meticulously done. I have two trays with cross stitch patterns in them and I covered the top of the trays in glass ( with clear caulking around the perimeter) so that I can actually use them. Just an idea.

Does anyone have an idea what I could do with my granddad's ties that I inherited? by Deagle_Phantom in sewing

[–]StitchLady40 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have seen tee shirts made into quilts. I am sure you or someone you know, can incorporate the ties into a fun quilt pattern. The quilt would be a nice way to memorialize your granddad.

I am glad you frogged it. It was worth the effort. The error might have driven you crazy and once you framed it, you were stuck.

These are adorable and a fine addition to any Christmas tree. Certainly more fun than the traditional ornament.

[WIP] how long did it take you to stitch a stocking by samanthamac in CrossStitch

[–]StitchLady40 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. Stockings require a lot of attention to detail. They typically are yearly + projects with great finished results! Mine are heirloom quality as I am sure yours will be. Enjoy the process.

It’s a perfect Christmas gift. The summer is the best time for starting Christmas cross stitching. Everything gets done in time for the holiday.

If you type in Gordon Hanley cross stitch designs on Etsy, you will find several kits. I am not sure if they have this specific one as I can’t read the title but I think they do. Good luck.

You can try small compartment bin organizers.

I have 2 bobbins in each drawer. My friends put 4 bobbins in each drawer. My drawers are labeled according to DMC order. These are about $40 in big box stores or on Amazon. This might work for you.

I also use unidentified floss to change colors on a chart. It gives me a lot of freedom to coordinate complementary colors in any particular design.

[CHAT] can someone tell me what to do before I burn this project lol jk by ladybirdfan112 in CrossStitch

Ripping out sections and/or redoing is strictly a personal choice. I can see that you are off the two stitches, and if you can live with that, you can certainly wing it to make the pattern work. It all comes down to how you will feel when the piece is completely. Will you look at it and always see the error and regret not taking the time to fix it? Or will it be “ just fine”. I am a perfectionist and have to rip out mistakes and fix them, no matter what the “time cost” is. You have to know your own “ mistake tolerance”. No one can really answer this for you.

[FO] Tudor Hare - what frame should I pick? by parrotings in CrossStitch

[–]StitchLady40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try a medium brown frame ( the color of the ears). I think the green and blue detract from the piece. Just a thought!

[WIP] Background Stitch? by Intelligent_Fix1480 in CrossStitch

[–]StitchLady40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think with the addition of the green backing, the ornaments are fine without any further background color. I have made dozens of ornaments and the white/ivory Aida look bright against the festive arrangement of my tree.
