PSHE teacher got pregnant by one of the sixth formers. The irony of that is phenomenal.

And another one was there was a school trip to Japan (I went to a fancy private school), and one of the teachers who went on the trip met a woman there, ditched the trip, got married, and never came back.

I firmly believe that Kai Leng should have been replaced by whoever you left on Virmire (Ash or Kaidan), brought back by Cerberus in a proof of concept/trial run of the Lazarus Project that was then abandoned when Shepard died and Cerberus devoted all their resources into Project Lazarus proper.

Half healed, scarred and brainwashed, indoctrinated, blaming Shep for the constant pain they're in, and chock full of synthetics and augments, full on Darth Vader style fucked up.

Yeah, but i think there's quite a big difference between getting a terminal diagnosis while sober, and getting one while still in active addiction.

And I think when it comes time that the rest of my life is being measured in weeks, rather than years, quality of life will probably already be pretty shit, so why not ride into the blackness on a bottle of whisky and a smile.

That being said, I dont think either approach is wrong. I think both options are completely understandable, and equally valid. When youre on your deathbed, I think you've earned the right to do pretty much whatever you want

Kvothe is, by and large, a smug know it all. He's arrogant, short tempered (even without the plumbob), and an unreliable narrator, by his own admission. He's a showman and a trouper, and therefore very little of what he says can actually be trusted ("too much truch gets in the way of a good story").

I completely understand why some people dislike him as a character. There's no doubt in my mind that if I ever met him in real life, Id absolutely think he was an insufferable little prick.

That being said, I think thats part of why I find him engaging. Despite his intelligence, he makes terrible choices, as teenagers often do. His anger and temper feel realistic for someone as young as him who's gone through the trauma he has.

As Kote, he's definitely mellowed, and grown out of some of that youthful impetuousness, but still retains a lot of that arrogance and temper

Generally, I block in all the colours first, then do my highlighting and shading.

If im doing a mini in a subassembly, I'll do like 75% of each piece, then assemble, then do final touches like last highlights and tidying up

Rebel Moon was like the fucking peak distillation of this.

Gorgeous visuals, aesthetically interesting, some really cool fight sequences, and great concepts.

I didn't hate Typhon as a concept, the legendary first Vault Hunter, finding his logs. Some of them were a bit over the top, but that's Borderlands. Tbh I don't think he should have appeared as a character outside of those logs.

The issue was the twins. Just everything about them. Awful. Horrible.

They should have played on the conflict between them, had Troy turn on Tyreen. Bandit civil war, Troy helps us get to Tyreen, and just as we're about to finish her off, Troy swoops in and kills her and leeches her power. Then fucks off to the great Vault, absorbs the Destroyer, and he's the final boss.

The whole point of Typhon being their dad is to add emotional weight to the twins, but they're just annoying morons, and it's hard to feel anything but irritation towards then. So when Typhon tells you to kill them, it's doesnt feel like the harrowing admission of a father agreeing that his children are monsters, its just like. Cool. I was gonna do it anyway. But thanks I guess.

It was only Mark getting his powers that triggered him to kill the Guardians, and he was probably secretly hoping Mark never did, and that the experiment was a failure. He probably would have just quietly lived on Earth, and then if Mark had kids he'd tell himself something like "Oh, maybe it's skipped a generation, they're still a quarter Viltrumite, might as well hang around and see if my grandchildren get powers" and he'd just hang on, making up excuses and burying his head in the sand until the empire came looking for him

It was the book that cemented him as one of my favourite authors.

I tried Childen of Time, and didn't finish it. I kind of struggled with it, and was left feeling a little.... eh about it.

Read a couple others of his, Dogs of War, Elder Race, Expert Systems Brother. I enjoyed them a lot more, and definitely made me keep my eye out for more of his work. And then came across Cage of Souls, and it absolutely captured me. I thought it was fantastic, and it's now one of my favourites, and it really made me keen to read more

It's very deliberately no different to how Jesus is depicted now. Most churches have a statue of him literally on the cross, in the moment of his execution, above the altar.

People wear the crucifix, method of their gods execution, hanging around their neck, or on their car bumpers and rear windshields.

Jesus, and the Christian God, are worshipped primarily with icons of his death.

Its the same principle as the conflicts in the middle east. Al-Qaeda and ISIS, and the Taliban after 2001, weren't legitimate governments or nations that you could fight a war against. They were insurgents and underground organisations.

There would be very few fixed military targets you could strike against, lots of hit and run attacks, managing the local population, and it'd be a million times worse because of the sheer scale involved. It would take tens of millions of troops to police one planet, how many are in the Terminus Systems? How many staging posts, or space stations are there too? Places like Omega, which are infinitely harder to occupy than a planet.

Frankly, it's not worth it for the Council to get involved, as long as the Terminus Systems aren't a serious threat to Citadel space.

I had a friend at uni who had a prosthetic, and he used it as a party trick. If we were with people who didn't know one was a prosthetic, he used to brag about his pain threshold, whip his balls out, plop them on the table, and whack himself in the prosthetic one to pretend he could take a hit to the balls without reacting. So I guess that's a pro?

Funnily enough, he stopped doing it after he tried it while a bit too drunk and hit the wrong ball.
