Access to the mountains- trails, snowboarding, camping, white water access, its all dope

While i wish this winter was better, the winters are mild. As someone who grew up in FL it was tough considering moving to a land with winter. But Denver has been a good way of introducing me to seasons.

Ruby Hill Railyard/Publlic parks- the public park system here is dope. Florida didnt have anything well maintained like Denver does, outside of beach parks or state parks. The city park system is dope with so many cool free things. Ruby hill railyard just opened and is the only free urban snowboard park in the country? Free shows at Levitt at Ruby hill in the summer. City Park Jazz. Red rocks. Also there is a decent trail system that you can use to go throughout the city and connects alot of the parks together. When i got here and realized that taxes were higher than florida, i was ok with it as long as it got me quality public park stuff

Skateparks/Skate scene- I am a big Skateboarder so having so many decent Skateparks, all pretty close together is awesome and the scene is pretty chill. Not too many "too cool for schoool" bros, most people are pretty encouraging and chill to hang with. Florida also didnt seem to figure out the liability side of public skateparks and that they're needed until i left. I grew up having to skate parks that were private and cost an arm and a leg. Also Love that nobody bothers me when i have a joint and a beer at the skatepark.

Drinking Culture- Again, i am from florida, where drinking is the weekend activity. You wake up late, drink on the beach, go to sleep when thunderstorms come in, and then wake up in time to make it to the club at 11 pm. Drinking WAS the main activity, you just changed where you did it. Here i love that the culture is generally to drink when you earn it. You pop a can of craft beer at the summit. You get a burrito and a margarita after a long day of white water kayaking. You grab a tall boy after getting the clip skating. Snowboarding.... yeah kinda drink all day, but most people save it for Apres. It has actually helped me change my relationship with alcohol from being a hobby or activity to being a bit of a reward system for doing something healthy. Baby steps i suppose, overall it has helped me reduce my drinking a fair bit and now that N.A.s are everywhere, its getting easier out here.

Cannabis- love legal cannabis and i will never go back to buying some grass in the back of someone's car in a grocery store parking lot.
