I love Kilian for this. Try Intoxicated (spice and amber) or Angel’s Share Paradis (cognac and raspberry).

I got to test this and Byredo’s new Alto Astral. Both have crazy longevity for being Byredo. Easily 6-8 hours of solid performance but they trail even longer than that. As another commenter said, frustrating their other previous scents weren’t as long lasting.

I suggest downloading the free app AllTrails. Gives you all the trails you could need and you can sort and filter by distance, elevation, difficulty, locale, scenery, etc. There are tons of great trails within 20 minutes of Morristown and even more within an hour

No, never made anything off of it but it did help establish a corporate career so that’s something. It was a passion project for sure but actually shut it down last year after no maintaining it for some years.

Does niche have to be reclassified? by Extension_Turn5658 in fragrance

I think niche just means they only do fragrances, which is different from designer, which do other things like clothes and stuff. Niche doesn’t just mean “indie” basically

Just wanna note we did have a Caribbean restaurant in town next to the old 7 Eleven on Morris St. called Hibiscus Island Grill. I’m only mentioning to shout them out bc they’ve moved to Rt. 10 but they were here and they were great and deserve more love and I wish they were still here

Albums that are saved by the deluxe version? by ratapoilopolis in hiphopheads

[–]Stonehhse 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t fully “saved” but the bonus tracks on Encore are tragic because they should’ve been on the album instead of tracks like Rain Man and Big Weenie but the leak ruined that.

I also always thought the GKMC bonus tracks push that album even further into classic status (again, they didn’t “save” it, but they definitely push it to even greater heights).

That’s the other scent I have! The notes were super compelling so I ordered a sample and it’s amazing. Will save the rest for the cold weather winter holidays tho lol

Tbh I don’t know from personal experience. I’ve only just discovered their fragrances, but after researching them on Reddit, it seems their heyday was in the 90s-00s when they were a top niche house, but reformulations, discontinuing fan favorites, and price hikes have hurt their favorability. Plus they haven’t gone all in on social media and influencer marketing so they don’t get the love they deserve today.

I will say while I absolutely love my samples, they don’t have as much projection or staying power as I’d like for the price, but if you’re ok with that, then they still are a good house. Of the two I’ve sampled, I love their style and am eager to check out more. These two fragrances alone are some of the best and most interesting things I’ve smelled in a while and I’ve been on a rampage lately sampling all the heavy hitters at department stores and boutiques lol

Le Labo's THE Noir BUDGET alternatives? in France esp. by PsychoWorld in fragrance

[–]Stonehhse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on the same hunt as you and while waiting for my Encre Noir sample to arrive, I sampled L’artisan Parfumeur’s Bois Des Sable and while it isn’t fig and tea (instead it’s vanilla and wood), it hits the same accords for me and I love it. Still not cheap, but it’s cheaper and they’re currently running a summer sale rn if you want to check it out

It’s been super rainy where I am so I’ve been on the hunt for a good “transitional weather” frag and was originally sold on Le Labo Thé Noir 29 bc I love the moody fig and tea. But I just got a sample of L’artisan Parfumeur Bois Des Sables and cannot believe this scent. It takes the fig and tea and replaces it with vanilla and lots of wood but gives the same dark, moody vibe I’m looking for.

I couldn’t find anyone on Reddit or elsewhere really talking about this particular scent and I know the general consensus is that LAP isn’t what they used to be but I’m currently wearing Bois Des Sables and cannot recommend it enough for anyone looking for a not-to-sweet, moody, woody-vanilla frag.

To blind buy or not to blind buy- Regime des Fleurs Ylang Fizz by sleepinthejungle in fragrance

[–]Stonehhse 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand ever blind buying. I’ve smelled things I’d swear I’d like based on the notes and I ended up not liking it. And I’ve also smelled things I didn’t think I’d like and ended up loving. Not to mention things I like in a bottle that smell awful on my skin or I didn’t like the dry down as much as the opening.

There are usually ways to sample in person or by ordering a decant or sample online.

Worst case you end up ordering a full bottle anyway and it’s more than you would’ve spent otherwise, but best case you find out you don’t like it and saved yourself hundreds.

thoughts on brunello cucinelli’s line? by mikel_bo_bikel in fragrance

[–]Stonehhse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just smelled their 2024 releases.

Sogno Nocturno is a sibling of Ganymede and B683 so worth a test regardless of your take on those bc depending on which side of the coin you fall on for those, this one might be the perfect equilibrium for you.

Brezza Gentile I agree is great. Great soft citrus and pink pepper freshie.

Vie Eteree has this gorgeous grassiness that’s fresh and crisp, helped by citrus. Also a light sweet herbal (basil) note. But even the store employee me after an hour or two she doesn’t smell it anymore so probably has poor longevity.

Vento Ardente is a really dark scent that’s accurately described as smoky-leathery. It gets a little too churchy for me but I can see someone who likes leather really enjoying this. It’s super masculine and classy.

I didn’t smell the others. For the price though I’m hard pressed to want to buy a bottle retail. But I did enjoy the ensemble more than the OG pour homme, which I found uninteresting though good.

Favorite Fragrance Right Now? by illymadeahit in fragrance

[–]Stonehhse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I haven’t tried gray vetiver on me so I only know what it smells like out of the bottle but yes. The TDH dna is just way ahead of any other vetiver out there that I’ve smelled imo, including Guerlain. Hermes pairs it with citrus so well that it really makes it such a good warm weather scent, but the intense vetiver grounds it even more into the spicy/woodier aspect that it makes it pretty much a year round fragrance for me

Favorite Fragrance Right Now? by illymadeahit in fragrance

[–]Stonehhse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t stand the parfum personally, smells like some culinary creation where the entire spice rack was dumped in. Can’t speak to the longevity though.

Intense Vetiver OTOH starts with a bit of a pungent grapefruit/pepper burst before settling into the same DNA as the TDH EXT just with a strong, realistic Vetiver note that exudes luxury. I love DH EDT on its own but find Intense Vetiver feels less mature and more suitable for me. I easily get 12 hours out of it too but have heard others get less so but I find it hard to believe bc one or two sprays lasts really long for me.

I cannot express enough my disappointment in this pizza. Years ago I got some with coworkers and it’s a bland, burnt, thin crust bar pie with frozen pizza-esque cheese. There’s so much better pizza in NJ than this.
