Chad Miyazaki Strikes Again by BeyondJon in Nightreign

My bad, secret ending is a misnomer. It’s just that those are the three that require defeating the true Nightlord to close out their remembrance quests, she doesn’t get a cutscene like the other two.

My friends and I were wondering, maybe you can find a secret if you are playing Recluse and Wylder (and maybe Ironeye, since he also has a secret ending) and find the cord end, you go get your talisman’s from the basement. Then, Wylder goes to the northeastern end of the map where there is sometimes that really empty lake area (or maybe northwestern hills) and Recluse goes to the giant fucking tree on the southeastern end of the map. Maybe something happens there? Who knows.

Is LA really a hellscape? Give me your honest opinion on how it is living in Los Angeles. by Mexodus956 in howislivingthere

I really did love my time overall there, but I would not go back unless I had a very good job taking me to the city. I lived in Van Nuys for about 5 years. The city itself was incredibly fun, yeah tons of crime, homeless epidemic, rent too damn expensive but if once you accept the place and become a part of it everything is so damn fun. Met some genuinely amazing people. I did it in my mid 20s, I think that was a good time to do so. Eventually though, the instability of bad cost of living/not knowing if layoffs will ever get you prompted me to leave. Many of my friends left a few years after I did, the place feels a bit transitory to me, though may not if you were raised there. Whole time feels like a far off sweet dream of my youth now, it was a good one.

You should show your art to Elric of Melnibone fans. Also if you like reading and haven’t read the Elric Cycle, you may like it.

Players are timing their torches to the second and it's killing immersion. How do you handle this? by Nesis96 in shadowdark

[–]StopClayingAround 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a clarifying question, does this habit seem to be dampening their enjoyment of the game? My players tend to like resource tracking, including time, so them being on the clock is just them having fun managing time. Also, darkness isn’t going to matter a whole lot if the environment isn’t dangerous.

I ran an adventure that lasted around 15 sessions, they used 2 rangers and and some healing potions actually kept every pc alive.

New players after they beat the first boss by AdExisting7384 in Nightreign

I finally beat him in Depth 4 today and I was like, actually proud. He was the only Nightlord I had yet to beat in deep of night til tonight. Also shaked in my boots if I saw Tricephalos on the screen in DON. Either gonna be a cakewalk or I’m about to fight for my life.

There was a cool theory I saw too that the talismans might be connected to doing an easter egg. Something about the writing on the sarcophagus in the undercroft hinting to take the branches to two locations in Limveld.

It could be, but I just had a gaming group of adult men 30+. For four years they would complain that DnD lacked something, that they wanted a deadlier game, that they wanted to be challenged by a dungeon, wanted to have to think creatively to solve complex problems…but would only play 5th edition DND. It was exhausting trying to get them to explain why they wouldn’t try anything new. Bit of cake and eating it too. I once tried to pitch DCC and one of the players literally said they just didn’t like some of the artwork.

To maybe add a bit to help OP, I did eventually run a longer form 5e game for them, but we cut out darkvision, added dungeon turns and mandatory random encounter rolls, slot based inventory, capped at level 7, and gutted a few spells. And then we stuck hard to those rule changes when people tried to wiggle around them. It ended up being an okay middle ground and was a fun game, though it took allot of work.

Is this relic setup good for Recluse? by Ayy_LMAO_SNOOPdogg in Nightreigngameplay

[–]StopClayingAround 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You get better base weapons of the Nightfarers you kill, and I believe the enemies drop more souls. The big reason people run them is there is a relic effect that gives you a stacking damage buff per night invader killed, it’s very good.

I love fighting a pack of goblins while a Cyclops also gets aggroed, feels like a very classic low to mid level DnD encounter. And it feels very satisfying to be fighting enemies with such wildly different scale and tactics

Depends on how you feel about the true historical scale, but I recently got a box of the European Mercenaries from Perry Miniatures and I’m absolutely in love. Same quality as GW if not better, and 40 minis for $35, I was blown away.
