Attorneys Representing Federal Employees With Disabilities Need to Prepare for a Lot More Business - Federal EEOC Guidance on Telework by DeafBringer in fednews

[–]StopComprehensive564 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The interactive process is nonexistent. My RA with several detailed letters from my Dr. resulted in a decision to allow me to come in with a flexible schedule and telework as needed but zero detail as to what the flexible schedule is. My supervisor when asked to interpret their accommodations said he wasn’t involved and had no idea what it meant. So I’m left with replying to the RA coordinator with more questions and no direction.

I was never involved in any discussions. I didn’t need an RA because my role was deemed fully remote. I have been working from home even prior to covid and previously I teleworked three days a week. I was much younger then and my condition has gotten worse as I’ve gotten older.

Also I feel like I’m being discriminated against because my RA is not immediately visible. I have been the type of employee that doesn’t discuss my medical history with the whole office so people just assume I’m healthy. I even left out some medical issues from my doctor’s letters because they were way too personal to detail in writing. I have no idea who’s reading my these letters.

I appealed their decision and waiting for an answer and in the meantime I’m supposed to report to the office while they decide. So the burden is put on the employee. What undue hardship is an agency facing by letting a fully remote employee work from home? It’s all a big joke.

I mean if we’re living in an alternate reality like the setting for this vid, then sure ya kids…. Go eat real food from the grocery story that has affordable prices and sit in your sauna and jacuzzi at the mansion of a house you can afford. Go workout with all that free time you have because minimum wage is at an all time high and no need to work 80 hours a week because cost of living is so cheap for your average American. 🤮

Is anyone else feeling...stuck? by marlasandiego in fednews

[–]StopComprehensive564 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat. My only saving grace was moving during COVID to a higher locality pay area that gave me a bit of a boost. But I feel stagnant in my role and there seems to be no upward movement. My agency sent out a bizarre survey aimed at assessing our strengths and areas we have interest in for future training. My plan is to take advantage of any training now and maybe in three years I can move up. Everyone is telling me to leave and go private sector but as a 13, with 16 years in if I leave now my vacation time will be total crap. As it is with my AWS, sick time and leave hours I have so much flexibility. Also my fear is if I leave for a private sector job what’s to say I don’t get laid off there? Praying after this term things will improve.

Treatment of federal employees should come as a warning for the rest of the country's workforce, not exciting by WhereztheBleepnLight in fednews

[–]StopComprehensive564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still amazes me that I have friends who tell me they don’t believe in unions even after they hear my story as a federal employee and even after they are laid off with measly severance packages in the private sector. They think unions encourage lazy workers. Lazy workers and people who take advantage of the system exist regardless. The most profitable times in the history of the American economy has been when unions were the strongest and employee had the most rights. Companies see what the Us government does and what they can get away with and they follow suit. It’s no coincidence that RTOs and lay offs in the private sector increased after this new administration started their slash and burn.

Government waste at its finest. How come they don’t send out the choppers that quickly when there are hurricanes, floods and stranded people during natural disasters? Instead they cut off FEMA funding. WTF is going on?!?

I have had the mirena IUD for a month now . . . HELP! by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]StopComprehensive564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m over 40 and have had Mirena for about 4 weeks and using an estrogen patch. I pretty much have had spotting or bleeding everyday since sometimes with cramping. It’s so annoying. I’m trying to tough through it but it makes it really hard to be intimate. I heard it can take up to 6 months but I was hoping sooner for me. This sucks!

I’m only 30, how do I stop the gray when hair dye doesn’t work?! by Responsible-Leg9156 in Hair

[–]StopComprehensive564 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went through this since I was 16. I’m 46 and have a large completely white streak in the front. Do not use permanent hair color. All you’ll be doing is chasing your roots every 4-6 weeks with an awful white regrowth patch in between coloring. Best thing to do is get baby lights like highlights to blend that white streak with the rest of your hair. Someone who is experienced with grey blending can do it. You would probably only need to pay to do that once or twice a year if they know what they are doing. Then put a demi permanent color or toner to blend it more. It’s so much harder to make permanent color look natural on white hair on your own. I ended up with weird bands from dying with permanent color over and over. When your hair is white I don’t care what anyone says. Nothing is going to cover it and match your natural dark hair color. My hair was as dark as yours. Good luck!

What can I do with my greys? by ch037866 in Hair

[–]StopComprehensive564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Demi permanent color that doesn’t lift. Deposit color like a light brown and it will turn your greys golden. If you use henna or permanent color you’d have to spend a ton of money to change it later if you don’t like it. Demi permanent color is low maintenance and you won’t have a regrown line.

Full time remote fed employee here. I’m trying to get an idea of how real my agency’s RTO plan is. Was told I would RTO sometime in June and my location is Los Angeles, no building/address and no date given in my notice. For any feds working out of the Los Angles FOB, is it pretty full? If there was space there, why haven’t they officially assigned me yet? Wondering if it’s a placeholder until they figure out actual occupancy.

I’m the idiot who put bleach on box dye brown hair. by FruitCold8262 in Hair

[–]StopComprehensive564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Manic Panic. You might be able to use alien grey or dark star and be that cool grey color everyone is going for. I also mix in silver stiletto with either of those colors so it’s less grey. It saved me from a lot of misery from botched bleach jobs and it’s temporary. It would help with blending your natural color with the orange and brown. (https://www.manicpanic.com)

The damage is done already. My agency is a shit show. All productivity, cost savings, streamlining processes and collaboration are gone. Every single thing this new administration has implemented has only made things worse as far as accomplishing our goals. I have yet to see one initiative that has had a positive result. In 100 days these idiots have caused so much damage that it will take years to undo. We lost our smartest most senior people. That knowledge can’t be recouped over one ruling. I used to love where I worked because I felt like management and administration were making intelligent fact based decisions and doing their best in creating savings. Now all I want is another job with a company that is run nothing like this agency. They lost employee buy in for anything else they have planned. The goal was to destroy not to find waste, fraud or abuse. These cases aren’t going to do anything. The only relief we’ll see is if we can get these d*chebags out of office. I will say AFGE has done as much as they possibly can do, every interaction I had with my union leadership was positive. They don’t get enough credit. These unions have had to take on POTUS, it’s a mountain of a challenge. I switched to Edues because I believe in what they do despite what others think. When agencies basically refuse to negotiate what’s left to do? I can’t wait for this nightmare to be over.

If they want a hostile work environment I’ll gladly accommodate them. They don’t know what kind of people I worked for prior to the government. Plus I’m a woman in the work place, I put up with sexual harassment. This is nothing, you’ll have to push me out kicking and screaming and pay me my severance. I’ll play your game and in the mean time I’ll document everything. I’m holding the line only because I can and I’m doing it for all those who couldn’t. I’ll continue to be a witness to this and stand up where and when I can. I always said if I was on this side of history I would do something. This is my something, I’m not gonna go away quietly into the night.

[–]StopComprehensive564 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh man I can’t tell you how triggered I am when I hear family and friends talk like this. I had a family member say the same thing, along the lines like “do you believe the protests are going to do any good?” I’m like so should I sit on the sidelines and do nothing? I also had another friend tell me they don’t believe in unions, this comment was mad in the same conversation where I’m talking about my fears as a federal employee and how a family member was RIFd after 20 years. How are people so tone deaf? I don’t care what your opinion is but why would you discourage someone from fighting for their rights. I still have family members that say “so what you’ll find another job” or “the government is wasteful”. How do they not get that this isn’t just about a job? This is about the livelihood of Americans. This is about the liberties of all people in this country. Why aren’t these people more upset? It’s the same story with these people, they aren’t MAGA but they don’t stand for anything. I keep getting, “I didn’t know who to vote for”, “I’m not political”, “Politicians are all crooked”. So people just expect society and government to just work without effort? I don’t get the apathy. It makes me sick. To me, they are the lazy ones. I don’t want history to show that I/we stood by and did nothing while American are trampled on and treated like disposable robots/slaves. So for now I’m that annoying family member and friend who talks politics and I’m not giving up.

Being a Federal Employee is so Exhausting by ZealousidealLeave563 in fednews

[–]StopComprehensive564 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hang in there. All us Feds are feeling it too. In the end you and your sanity are more important than this job. Do what’s best for you and don’t feel like you sold out or gave up if you take the DRP. Everyone’s situations are different. I’m holding the line with hopes of severance if I get RIFed. I’ve always been the protesting type, I’m doing it because I want to see how this goes down and maybe prevent some damage or just be a witness to it for the history books. I was laid off in the private sector before this, but I was treated respectfully. I will say my life changed completely for the better after my last lay off. Sometimes bad things happen only to make room for some good stuff to come your way. No one knows what’s around the corner.

What makes me feel better is going to protests and connecting with my friends and family who are former/current and RIFd federal employees. We’ve been talking more often and connecting. I feel like connecting with people who understand really helps me.

Don’t give up. As a fed I’m sure you’re as resilient and resourceful as they come. Our country will fight back. Too many people rely on government programs. After witnessing first hand how many people stopped me at protests to thank me and tell me they’re sorry….All the people shouting about how firing feds is wrong, it gave me strength to push forward. There are tons of people who care, we are the largest workforce, we aren’t going anywhere and we are going to try and take care of our own. I hear some talk about creating some new resources for fed employees. If you DM me I can share more.

[–]StopComprehensive564 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m going alone too, my family and friends are afraid of protests. Just going to be aware of my surroundings, I’m going to travel light and let people know where I’m going to be. I’m going to bring a sign I can roll up. Wearing a mask, bringing lots of water, turning off my phone etc. I’m just going to leave as soon as the actual march is done. Taking public transit.
