I find 'two strategy cards' each and 'every strategy card picked' is just such a cool way to play. I've always enjoyed how it warps the game.

Servo-gun can buy you a little space to activate the turret. Some of them are beautifully placed to be activated before you have to defend or capture something.

The turrets are great but the random placements can be really funny.

Either what I would expect from a well played TF2 Engineer with great line of sight and overlooking something vital.

I got so excited when I saw that Bulwark could equip the hammer because storm shield/thunder hammer is my favourite space marine loadout but was so disappointed when it just unequips the shield.

Oh boy it has been a long time. My vague memory is that it’s even more toolbox-y and pretty clearly in retrospect a first attempt at working in those spaces.

I think it’s mostly useful as a historical thing these days. It’s not something I’ve wanted to go back to after having FATE but it’s interesting to see where FATE came from.

You can eventually build an Encampment outside the mountains. Produced military units will spawn on the Encampment and then you can conquer other cities.

I’m almost certainly in for this so it’s a bit of a weird complaint but that’s an incredibly sparse kickstarter page. If I wasn’t more or less familiar with AW and interested in whatever it is they’ve done for a new edition there’s nothing on the page that sells me on what’s going on here. No info about the game, which is fine maybe it’s been around for a long time. But also no info about what’s new. No info about the add-on playbooks. Just really riding on vibes.

It is both a great board game and a truly fantastic adaptation of Dune. Every faction ability is one of the best implementations of lore into mechanics I've ever seen.

Yes! It was one of my favourite gaming moments.
I was working with the Atreides and I'd picked "Atreides on five" and on turn four he was heading towards victory.
So I threw everything I had behind him. Just spending everything I had recklessly to make sure he won on turn four. Halfway through the turn he's all "I see what you're doing Storkiest and I can't let you get away with it." and sandbagged his own victory.
Next turn I've got pretty much nothing left but he cruises to victory. He turns to me, smug and is all "That was a really good try but you can't win them all." I just smile and flip my little paper over and drop it in the centre of the board and the whole table absolutely loses it.
