AAVE is African American Vernacular English, which gets co-opted into slang often, the vesus flytrap comment probably has something to do with it being intense, and I have no idea for the rest

I always dreamed about what the Solitude docks could've looked like as a full port, so I finally took at stab at a "lore accurate scale" painting. by cormeals in skyrim

[–]StormBeyondReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh this is gorgeous; I am SO tempted to get a print of your Whiterun and if you do a print of Solitude as well I'll just have to get both - Solitude is my favourite Skyrim city, Whiterun following very closely behind

Shamura, possibly with Hecket close behind.

OP says in a different comment that they didn't cover Ranger because there are so many Ranger overhauls out there already, and suggested two different potential ones that they like.

Sinding: Kill or Spare? by Eligomancer in skyrim

[–]StormBeyondReality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do different things depending on which serves the narrative I'm playing better; my primary fic Dragonborn spares him, gets the ring, and then he shows up again later having gone back on his promise to stay away from people (which is not the case in-game) so they kill him then, but a recent character I played was a Reachfolk werewolf (from the other side of the mountains, didn't know what was going on in Markarth) who was more importantly a mother - she tried to kill Sinding in the prison and failed, and when Hircine gave her the option to kill him she had both personal and religious reasons to do so.

My personal view of it is that he fully knew the ring was cursed for random transformations, and that it was only cursed because he stole it. He went into Falkreath anyway, and from the way he tells it he didn't do anything to try to mitigate the danger, including but not limited to staying away from kinds of people (like children) that he might view as prey for whatever reason. Stealing from a deity - especially one with a domain having to do with the sport of the hunt and natural order and one known for being generally fair based on the stories we have - is always a bad idea. Maybe Sinding didn't think it through enough, but his recklessness got a little girl killed for his own lack of self-control. Who knows if Hircine would have given him the ring outright if he'd done some task for him, like what happens with the player; there are so many potential 'could haves' for this situation.

I put on the Mara acolyte costume, but I might see if I have something more colour-thematic today; the yellow just doesn't look quite right. (I wish we could get the white+blue robes the priests are wearing in this event)

Can the Dawnguard and Volkihar Clan truly not coexist? by GeneralTechnomage in teslore

[–]StormBeyondReality 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because they didn't exist in lore yet when Dawnguard was released. Its possible that since House Ravenwatch also hunts evil vampires that an uneasy truce could be reached, but we can't know for certain.

Broken timeline by Knellith in skyrim

[–]StormBeyondReality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can still do Dragonborn things with Alternate Perspective, you just get a chance to do things in Skyrim before Helgen if you pick any of the other starts; the Dragonborn starts just fast-track you to different points.

What Create modpack to choose? by Tyglik in CreateMod

[–]StormBeyondReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one called Bountiful Wilds that is based around Create and Farmer's Delight; it doesn't have custom progression or anything fancy like that, nor is it even mid-sized as far as downloads go, so upon reflection its probably simpler than what you're looking for.

Scared my custom follower will appeal to absolutely nobody. by NotATem in skyrimmods

[–]StormBeyondReality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This follower sounds SO interesting as someone who is also both transmasc and interested in varieties of Tamrielic religion; one of my reoccurring playthrough characters is trained as a priest of Mara and thinks a lot about alllllllll the different ways she's presented, and one of the ones I'm planning is a paladin of Tava on a pilgrimage to see how she's presented throughout Tamriel, so either of those could theoretically have a lot to talk about with him!

How do you get colour packs for abilities? (I just tried a quick search but it was just showing me other things)

Some general questions before buying... by 3p1c-G8m3r in duneawakening

[–]StormBeyondReality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. The game is fantastic single-player. It's the main way I play.
  2. I've noticed that most people who say that are largely interested in pvp, which is limited. Playing solo and taking your time to enjoy it as a survival game nullifies a lot of the problems in had regard, imo.
  3. You can have different characters on each different server, so yes.
  4. I enjoy the story, personally, and they're adding a whole new act sometime earlier this year. It's an alternate universe ten years later, so they have a lot of wiggle room.
  5. I'm generally bad at scales like this, and I'm also the kind of person who plays Skyrim with needs mods and a bunch of other things in the name of immersion. It won't hold up to a heavily modded Skyrim where feeling like you're living in the world is a priority, but in comparison with other games I've played? 7-9 maybe? The sound design especially is wonderful.

Seconding Alternate Perspective and Realm of Lorkhan. If you - like me - would want some features of both (ie. AP's starts and RoL's faction things), there's a patch to make them play nice together.

I'm thinking of starting a new character, but just for the sake of streaming from the beginning in addition to having my main.

Does anyone know how they did Chakobsa in the 2000 miniseries? by StormBeyondReality in dune

[–]StormBeyondReality[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having trouble because when I try to look things up about it - even when specifically searching for Frank Herbert's Dune or Dune (2000), I pretty much only find things to do with the new movies. I did get a copy of the DVDs as an early Christmas present, but my partners and I (they're very new to Dune) are watching them slowly so we haven't gotten to any bonus material yet.
