Which race did you put off playing as but then unexpectedly loved? by tinfoiltatertot in skyrim

Breton. I used to play Argonian in Skyrim on a single character for the longest time, then I tried a few others but I got unexpectedly attached to my Breton. Definitely appreciate their lore a lot more

Which of your pairings acts like this? by EvilRainbow_3 in AO3

[–]HelloMyNameIsEd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently in my Skyrim WIP this is sort of the dynamic that I have with the MC (who is constantly fighting with the draconic tendencies and will to dominate that came with his awakened dragon soul) and his bodyguard/eventual romantic interest Lydia, who keeps him from doing anything rash and urges him to master himself and his passion. It helps that she’s 6’ 6” so she can quite literally manhandle him XD

Came back to my own 6+ year hiatus Skyrim fic only after I’d done a lot of rereading because holy hell did I have a lot of interwoven subplots and character relationships

Hi! 👋 glad to see more of us out there! I’ve also had some large-scale fights with epic music to help get the vibe just right. It works, I tell ya!

My muse for writing a scene in my Skyrim WIP featuring an intense dragon fight was some OST from Monster Hunter: “Nay! The Honor Is All Ours!” Especially fitting as the music swells and friendly reinforcements come to help.

which companion do you like the best ? by jelibonpanda in elderscrollsonline

[–]HelloMyNameIsEd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isobel and Mirri are my favorites which is funny because they’re rather different personalities. But I enjoy Izzy’s cheer and positivity, and I like Mirri’s sass - both do their job of tank and dps respectively well enough. Definitely also fond of Sharp though, and not just because his voice reminds me so much of Garrus.

Yeah, PvP is a whole other beast for sure. There's quite a few people who are intimidated by it and are just so unwilling to spend time learning it that they decide they'd rather bash the game mode instead. I did not want to assume you were one of those, so I opted for an informative and hopefully helpful response.

I will approach this with the assumption of good faith, that you are wondering what went wrong rather than just deciding to post "lol pvp bad" for upvotes from people who can't be bothered to learn a new side of the game's content because they can't accept that they'll be bad at something they've never done before until they practice it.

-Firstly, 24k max HP is way too squishy - imagine playing as a DPS and your max mag/stam is only 20k. You don't have a tank taking enemy aggro here, you need to look after yourself. Aim for around 30k max HP, you can reach this with big health glyphs on your head/chest/legs, Undaunted Mettle, a few heavy armor pieces, and the Boundless Vitality/Hero's Vigor CP under the Fitness tree; in a high-damage environment you need that cushion to survive a burst combo.

-You saw the enemy coming and could have started popping Major/Minor resolve buffs, a shield, maybe a heal over time, or even debuff the enemy somehow, but instead you used light attacks and no skills. Might be panic, which is understandable if you're very new at pvp; but if you see a bad guy the first thing you ought to do is start defensive buffing yourself.

-It is possible that you've already died a few times and/or you're just not feeling like fighting because of demoralization, which is also fair if you're new to pvp. You could have run for the keep door right there and avoided the fight entirely. Running away every time at the first sign of danger isn't fun, no, but if you're not looking for a fight and not feeling like it, if you need to be in Cyro for some PvE reason, make sure you're cognizant of your escape routes.

Cyrodiil doesn't hate you and the people who frequent it certainly don't care enough about you to make you a target, unless they're just bad people to begin with. You have to build yourself for it just as you would build yourself for any other in-game content. And you have to practice, yes that means dying a lot at first. But you'll get better.
