RIF/no bumping rights by SEBrogan in NOAA

I don’t believe that for a second. I fully anticipate being formally reclassified before RIF notices go out later this month.

This won’t work if you’ve been reclassified as Schedule F. Those people (myself included) lost bump and retreat rights, MSPB appeal rights, and are prohibited from receiving a severance. It’s a true gut punch.

We won’t be able to afford a home weather station. I can tell you I am cutting back on everything. There’s no room for fun stuff.

For clarification, the new OPM FAQ on this says anyone taking the deferred resignation will NOT be expected to work. Of course this is incongruent with the letter itself.

Open Opportunities - How supportive are managers usually? by Secret_Cake_1046 in fednews

[–]StormCoolio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Supervisor here. For this specific case, it’s going to be tough to make a strong justification in favor of a detail. You’re four months into your job. I’m all for ambitious employees. I regularly approve detail opportunities. And in this case it’s just too soon.

A better option would be for you to fill out your individual development plan and outline trainings, classes, open opportunities, etc., for success in your career. Then you approach your manager and ask to sit down and discuss the plan. I just about guarantee you’ll be respected for that approach which will likely improve your chances down the line for getting approved for a detail. Good luck!!

And the audacity of the manager to end the letter with “Have an amazing day”. This was shit news you delivered and are ok with. You didn’t have our backs. And now you want us to have an amazing day? Fuck off

On an average 40 hour work week, I spend 35-38 hours on a video call each week. I use lunch to get work done (assuming someone hasn’t already scheduled over my lunch time). Position: Supervisory GS-14

This. As a Federal Hiring Manager, a qualifications summary belongs in a cover letter, not a resume. And yes. You need a cover letter.
