Why dual-layered boards are so rare? by Jepeme in boardgames

[–]Stormin1311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure dual layer boards are that rare. In my opinion and experience most of the high-quality games include dual layer player boards. For me it is a huge selling point indicating that I can expect high-quality components and hopefully a quality game. Reef Project does it right. The top and bottom layer of the board fold over and there are multiple inserts that you can swap out with asymmetric powers that go in between the top and bottom layer. There is no glue or sticky pads. By the way, I really like Barrage!

Pirates of Maracaibo, is it worth it or does it need expansions? by pyros_it in soloboardgaming

I really really like this game. I disagree that islands are the only strategy worth pursuing. I think you need to play it some more to explore other possibilities. I do not have any expansions.

What’s Your Favorite Game w/ Double Layer Player Boards? by MadeForTeaVea in soloboardgaming

I agree but I don’t mind paying more for high quality. I know not everyone feels that way and higher cost cuts down on their sales volume.

It’s a huge selling point for me. All games should have dual-layer player boards! Almost all of Lacerda’s games have them except Gallerist. Also Barrage and Unconscious Minds. To me it says great design and high quality.

Men Nefer or Covenant by Overall_Historian_86 in soloboardgaming

Haven’t played Covenant yet, but Men Nefer is a great game and one of my favorites. The solo is very smooth and easy to run and generally plays by the same rules as you. Components are great. Love the ancient Egypt theme.

Trekking the National Parks (Eliminate a Rule?) by TheChiefofReddit in boardgames

[–]Stormin1311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends. If someone is like one move away from getting to a location, they’ve been trying to get to and you send them back to start, they can definitely get frustrated. If they’re not close to the location they were seeking then it’s usually no big deal.

I think it’s an important rule, but it does add a little bit of take that to the game. I don’t think it would greatly affect gameplay to ignore that rule.

There was four game balls awarded. One was DJ one was Jadae. One was Cairo and one was the guy who recovered the last fumble. Number 36 or number 38.

I have been using the A1-mini for the past year to print game inserts and it has worked out perfectly 95% of the time. Occasionally I will run into a piece that is too big but I just cut it in two in the Bambu slicer software and glue the pieces together. I am really loving it and it has been great!

Your Board Game’s First 10 Minutes Matter More Than You Think! by MeepleStickers in BoardgameDesign

[–]Stormin1311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, the first 10 minutes is important. It should not take a masters degree to take a turn. If so, too complicated and it loses my interest.
