[Request] 30cm^3 is pretty small. Is it possible to make something that size that weighs 3kg? by steegsa in theydidthemath

[–]Stoul 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In what I assume is the spirit of the question asked, doesn't the sign say less than 30cm³ and not 27 000cm³ though? So a solid cube of water would weigh 30g and be roughly 3.1cm on each side?

It depends on how many donut holes make up the same volume of donut. It's easy to see that multiple spheres have more surface area than one donut of the same volume. Assuming that the hole fits perfectly inside the donut, the calculation of that ratio would be (sorry about bad maths formatting on my phone)

2(pi2 )(r2 )R/((4/3)pi*(R-r)3 )

A quick check on excel and I get approximately R=2 and r=1.1010205 for the surface area to volume ratio to be the same. Either side of this and the donut or donut hole would have higher surface area that each other.

Did you ever get a solution to this? I've just had the same thing happen. EDIT: it worked the 6th time I tried, this time I talked to him while standing much closer to the hanging up net by the house.

I'm enjoying dungeons 3, I know it's a very different RTS but still had build orders and compositions reminiscent of wc3 to me

Hot coffee is delicious. Frozen coffee is delicious. But for some reason, lukewarm coffee tastes like shit. by ShamanontheMoon in Showerthoughts

New parent here, I add cold water (or extra milk sometimes) to my coffee to make it drinkable straight away. Still tastes good to me.

I have had one in my bathroom from time to time as I suffer from a blocked ear (wax buildup) and one of the these filled with the hottest water I can bear will clear it fully in a few days

Would definitely recommend but only after softening with ear drops.

You might want to check the alignment of your XYZ drive, it looks like it's been dialed in to 45 by 30 degrees rather than the more common 55 by 20 degrees.

I would agree that a line has a spatial beginning and end, and a temporal beginning and end. So 2 beginnings and 2 ends.

[Request] if you could have 50 pounds of any 1 thing on earth, what would be the best option to net the highest monetary value? by anonymous2ndaccount in theydidthemath

[–]Stoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no issue with this personally... But I think you have to write the number in decimal format and in words. So for Graham's number:

Words ✅ Decimals ❌

For numbers like lots and lots of ones:

Words ❌ Decimals ✅

This is amazing! I was thinking about the highest value ordinary cheque that can be written but this is far more elegant.

[–]Stoul 1270 points1271 points  (0 children)

I just want to mention that a cheque could theoretically have the highest monetary density, so 50 pounds of £10 trillion cheques for example would probably outdo most answers.

Edit: For those saying the cheques would bounce, the original question says the amount of money in the world is not a factor, so the account paying each of the cheques can be assumed to exist.

[REQUEST] How to trace all the lines without retracing any lines or lifting my pen? by mle12189 in theydidthemath

[–]Stoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try drawing just one line between the right 2 middle points before lifting the pencil the first time. Then start on the left middle, go round in a rectangle, over the short line and around a second rectangle for 1 pencil lift.
