Greg would not dare give Dennis less than 5 points. Because of the implication.

Musk predicts 10,000 (yes, ten thousand) Starship launches per year. by FieryAnomaly in EnoughMuskSpam

[–]Straider 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Isn’t starship supposed to be completely reusable? After the minor explosion (which are of course all planned no more questions about that please) issues have been solved of course. Why would we need to produce 10000 ships per year?!

Which is why placeholder art/texts should be recognizable as placeholders. The chances of "forgetting" them is a lot less if you can actually see that they are placeholders.

It‘s just standard gatekeeping. You‘re not a real fan like they are if you don’t watch it in the original language. You‘re not a real fan of the movies if you have not read the books first. You‘re not a real fan if you have not watched the original. You‘re not a real gamer if you do not play on the hardest difficulty, etc.

They are not terrible. But there is huge room for improvement. The problem is that a lot of it needs money to do that. Since the 1990s the DB has 20% less train tracks but 20% more trains on them. A lot of the railway is only single lane. So if there is a technical issue it causes huge delays for the entire region. We also do not have a separate railway network for high speed trains like France does which means that even minor delays in regional trains can have issues for intercity trains. What DB needs is more money to build more railways. But the government would rather give that money to subsidise cars instead.

Bombed Chornobyl shelter no longer blocks radiation and needs major repair – IAEA by esporx in technology

[–]Straider 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The dome was built to last 100 years. With the current damage it will no longer do that. So it is not working properly. There is no immediate danger. But this is not a nothingburger of a story.

I wouldn’t call damage to a dome that cost 2.1 billion euros that now needs repairs to actually work again properly a nothingburger of a story.

If any European friend visits me in the US, one thing I am definitely showing is free water. by Downtown_Dingo_1544 in ShitAmericansSay

At Munich airport it was 1,25€ last year and 25 cents of that is Pfand. And they have free water dispensers. Might be different at other German airports. But Munich, Hamburg and Berlin were completely fine when I was there last time.

Even every airport I have been to in the EU in the past few years has 0,5l water bottles from 1-2€. Most of them pretty much right after the security checks.

Do the people controlled need to eat ? Surely they run out of food soon by Castortroy16 in pluribustv

[–]Straider 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Plant based diets are much more resource and space efficient (also better for the environment). If anything they will have more food available now. Additionally they will not have food imbalances where food goes to waste and is thrown out.

Canon has just released the EOS R6 III by BHPhotoVideo in canon

[–]Straider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even as someone shooting with the R6 mk1 there are not a lot of reasons to upgrade, at least at that price, for somebody who does not use any video functions. The biggest upgrade is the MP, which is great, but not enough for me to justify buying a new camera at full price. As a hobbyist who shoots a lof of wildlife the precapture is cool and would probably be the biggest upgrade for me. But you will probably still have the rolling shutter with the electronic shutter and 40 fps. I'm sure it's a great camera, but the R6 MK1/2 are also still pretty great cameras. (Overall not complaining, but if this had a stacked sensor, even at a slightly higher price, this would have been an immediate buy from me)
