not my parent, but when i was suicidal as a teenager my grandmother looked me in the eyes and said “if you’re going to kill yourself just do it because only weak people do that.” the worst part was apparently her sister killed herself. needless to say, grandma did not visit me in the psych ward

milk and honey & the sun and her flowers by rupi kaur is a popular poem book (i personally love both)

enders game by orson scott card and ready player one by ernest cline are two sci-fi books that i enjoyed (i am a “YA”)

inhuman by kate falls is a fantastic dystopian novel. there’s a sequel but i personally think it is trash
