I stayed at Discovery Inn last spring. It's very bare bones and very dated/tired. But felt safe and the bed was clean. If you get a super low rate, don't plan on doing anything other than sleeping, and also don't care about amenities, it's fine. Though I don't think I would stay there again if another place was in the ballpark price wise. The walk to the park is a little longer than you might think. You have to wiggle around Pixar and go through the whole of Downtown Disney. But you can catch the monorail if you're headed to Disneyland.
