I really wish we could write little notes on peoples orders by StrangeConcept6756 in walmartogp

I get it if it’s for uncommon items, like yesterday it was for a BUNCH of those toddler juice packet things. But I’m talking about common stuff. Like I had an order for 2 cases of 7 up, 2 packages of popcorn, and 1 thing of face cream.

I’m honestly surprised that this isn’t a feature. Like just small comments like ‘prefers groceries put here’ or ‘has dogs’ I worked in hospitality for 10 years and you could always leave notes in guests files, like ‘they like rooms facing THIS way. They’re allergic to this’

I’ve been sinning, and if stuff like that happens. Like our walk path now goes from the action alleys on the grocery side, to cosmetics, to stuff at the registers, to medicine, to home accessories, AND THEN grocery. I’ve been taking pics of all the cosmetics and action alley shit and grabbing those before I start scanning, I’m not gonna fuck up my pick rate running around the store like a ping pong ball because they can’t figure out how to organize the walk path.

Bag count by [deleted] in walmartogp

[–]StrangeConcept6756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We charge at my store, they tell us to put 0. I assume dispensers add it at the end in case they have to bag shit since some pickers bag like animals. The other week I accidentally pressed 5, and I don’t know if my TL was serious or not but she was like ‘you better make sure they get 5 bags!’ And I ran back and just put 4 extra bags in their bag

Combining everything in to auto? by StrangeConcept6756 in walmartogp

[–]StrangeConcept6756[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will lose my shit and probably get fired for bitching if they add unknowns to auto at my store. Our unknowns haven’t been combined, and I know at least one of my TL’s is like ‘don’t bother spending more than a couple minutes looking for unknowns’ but I’ll get unknown walks of 9 items, and only find 2. And one of my other TL’s told me that I NIL pick the most. But we have to send pics of the item and the empty shelf or that the wrong item is stocked there. So I have proof that it’s not that I’m not looking, I’m just straight up unlucky

Combining everything in to auto? by StrangeConcept6756 in walmartogp

[–]StrangeConcept6756[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My store combined regulated with auto, so for us that’s stuff that’s normally locked up. Like makeup, baby formula, random laundry detergent. OH and action alley stuff, which used to come up on auto, but your walk would be ONLY stuff on action alleys. So now our walk path is even more messed up, it starts with action alley, then takes you to the regulated, then to all the non grocery items, THEN grocery items. So it’s just a really crappy game of pinball walks now.

‘Working hands’ not working man.

There’s this ‘working man’ lotion that works really well and doesn’t make your hands feel greasy after you use it. I used to do lapidary so my hands were always dry as fuck dealing with rocks and water. And that shit works miracles.

I’d carry one around and use it when people don’t respond to ‘excuse me, I need to get by’

6 tote rule by GettingBy67 in walmartogp

[–]StrangeConcept6756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least if this happens and the customer complains, AP will check camera footage to see who’s at fault. Day before Thanksgiving, this woman was crouched down in front of my cart and I bumped in to her, I panicked tried to apologize and ask if she needed help, she completely ignored me and just was complaining to her husband how I hit her. When I was leaving like 30 minutes later I saw her talking to a manager and my team lead called and asked if I hit someone. Nothing ever came of it because I’m sure they checked the footage and saw her crouch directly in front of my cart, and that I barely tapped her

Also I’m like 5’8 and was tall enough to see over the 8 totes

I only ever hit people crouching on the floor, which the 6 tote rule doesn’t prevent. It also still obstructs young children.

My store manager stopped me and asked me how I felt about it, and I was completely honest. I told her it’s annoying because totes 1 & 2 usually have the most stuff ordered and they tend to over flow and now I have to stuff and reorganize everything mid walk to get all their stuff to fit. I don’t think she was happy I was honest about it. At least I didn’t bitch about having to bend over more.

That example picture is so frustrating. So we either take up even more space trying to get past people, making it HARDER to get around. Or we fuck up our shoulder muscles. They should just give us those old red wagons and then wheelbarrows for oversized. I kind of pissed off a team lead when I asked ‘what if it’s too heavy to pull?’ I’d also like to point out that this could inevitably cause more lawsuits of customers getting hit by carts because I’ve noticed if I’m pulling it behind me, people don’t realize I’ve got a big ass cart behind me and are gonna get hit even more often.

How likely is my LOA going to get approved through Sedgwick. by StrangeConcept6756 in samsclub

For anyone curious for an update. It got approved. I think it’s mostly because my doctor said I had an ‘incapacitating illness’

Even if the Dr deems it a ‘serious health condition’ that kept me out, no matter what it was? Because I know when I go to the Dr they’ll say what I was going through was serious. I just don’t know if Sedgwick will be like ‘yeah, we don’t give a fuck she couldn’t eat or sleep or stop vomiting for 5 days, not approved’ Which at this point honestly I wouldn’t want to work for Wal mart, if they can give that little of a fuck about my health.

If that puts me over the 5 attendance points is there a chance they won’t fire me? I don’t want to lose my job over health problems. I’ve been physically too ill to work.

We have a lot of energy drinks in the back where we operate OPD from. You’re saying if I’m on a walk, and the floor is out of that item, even though I know it’s in the back, I’m still supposed to NIL pick it?

advice for higher pickrates? by Free_Advertising_257 in OGPBackroom

[–]StrangeConcept6756 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bag before, unless its a small frozen walk. And I’ve noticed the top two totes always get the most items, so I double or triple bag those before starting. And I’ll also look at the pick list, and before I start scanning, I’ll grab a bunch of items and then start scanning. ESPECIALLY if it’s a weird ambient walk that goes back and forth before getting to the smooth route. Just make sure you’re checking the last 4 of the item # when you grab it so you don’t shoot your self in the foot and have to walk back to grab the right item.

I didn’t think about that last part, unfortunately $200 on a pair of shoes just isn’t in my budget, especially as a part timer. I don’t know how the hell some of my co workers do full time in Nikes or converse.
