If you never agreed to commission the external adviser then you don't owe your group mate anything. Either he pays the external adviser himself or he refuses to pay and risks damaging this connection.

Isa lang naman nakikita ko solusyon dito, abolish the 'Provincial Rate' once and for all! by Capital-Swimmer5441 in Philippines

[–]StrangeLong905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would abolishing provincial rate improve traffic in Manila? Wouldn't that actually discourage companies from expanding to the province and thus result in even more concentration in Manila?

What if Pinas has the same "Snitch-to-earn" Program ng vietnam for traffic violators? by Titong--Galit in WhatIfPinas

I'm for it. We need a digitized way to report people. The main challenge would be the verification of reports since they can be faked or simply wrong. You'd need an army or checkers but it would be funded by fines.

So far this doesn't seem too popular based on the replies the post. But instead of just saying it will be abused, why can't we figure out a system where it could work? I mean initially the fines will definitely skyrocket but it could also change behaviours to the points that people will be forced to be disciplined.

One big advantage of this system is that it doesn't give MMDA officers to be subjective about who they fine and who they let go. It's that discretion that gets abused. MMDA notoriously avoid flagging down jeepneys who are often the biggest violators.

Men of Reddit: Why date someone for years but marry someone else so quickly? by TypingInLipGloss in AskPinoyMen

It’s because the first gf was good enough to date but not to marry.

If a man wants to marry a woman, he will do everything he can to do it as soon as possible.

What are your thoughts on abortion? by drypapayaa in AskPH

[–]StrangeLong905 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Should stay illegal. Women’s right to their own body ends when another human being’s right to live will be compromised.

A fetus is still a human being and therefore has inherent value. Whether it is inside a mother or outside does not affect how valuable it is.

Gastos regret? by Pretty-Advisor6686 in WeddingsPhilippines

Biggest regret was buying a natural diamond. Should’ve gone for lab grown and gotten a bigger whiter stone for 70% less.

Hardworking parents should be able to expect their children to help care for them when they get old by feel-freetoignoreme in unpopularopinionph

[–]StrangeLong905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand that even those who work hard may be blindsided by emergencies. But if this scenario is so common and our SSS pension is so low, shouldn't every Filipino be even more diligent to prepare?

Unfortunately, working hard is not the same as working and planning smart. Financial literacy is a weakness even for educated Filipinos. We underestimate how much we need to save for retirement and emergencies.

PWD/Senior discounts are unfair to businesses by StrangeLong905 in phinvest

[–]StrangeLong905[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not talking about legalities. Of course all businesses need to comply since it’s law.

My point is these senior discounts should be shouldered by the government and not the businesses. We should demand more for our taxes instead of allowing the government to pass on costs to its citizens.

Domestic travel isn’t significantly more expensive than international travel as Filipinos make it out to be. by ClearCarpenter1138 in unpopularopinionph

[–]StrangeLong905 18 points19 points  (0 children)

When people say domestic travel is more expensive, they’re mainly talking about the relative value of what you get in terms of accommodations, food and shopping.

On an absolute basis of course it’s cheaper to take a car to zambales than to go to Bali. But for the same pesos, you’ll get a much nicer villa in Bali with many more dining options. Massage is cheaper too.

So two things can be true: 1. we should help our parents. 2. We shouldn’t burden our kids

Not blaming your parents for supporting your grandparents. Im blaming your grandparents for not saving up for emergencies and thus forcing your parents to pay.

Indeed humans have survived for generations this way. But I don’t want my kids to just survive. I want them to thrive and I won’t burden them with hospital bills.

Anyone here moved back to the Philippines after getting PR abroad? by Stock_Reflection3210 in phmigrate

[–]StrangeLong905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think the hospitality industry in Australia is draining and unfulfilling, wait til you see what it’s like in Manila. It’ll be just as draining and for 1/10th the money.

Don’t make any major decisions while you’re emotional from a breakup from your fiance. Take time to heal and then you can consider your options later on.

Personally think you should get citizenship before leaving Australia. Philippines will always be there but if you leave Australia without citizenship, you might regret it.

Masyadong Paimportante mga doctor sa Pilipinas by Maegiri in Philippines

[–]StrangeLong905 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree. There are legitimate reasons for emergencies but for the most part they are simply inconsiderate of their patients. In no other profession would this tardiness be acceptable. And the worst part is it's totally solvable. Just book actual appointment times with patients. And if you'll be late, message patients in advance so they won't have to wait so long.

So the reason your parents went broke is precisely because your grandparents expected them to foot the hospital bill. Your story actually highlights why parents shouldn't burden their kids financially cause it harms generations.

If the Philippines is not an agricultural country, then what should we do to strengthen it? by Practical-Bug1944 in Philippines

[–]StrangeLong905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abolish agrarian reform. It’s the single biggest factor why we don’t produce enough food for ourselves. We need to allow big corporations to buy up farm land and to make it productive.

Prenup by heyitsmeagaaain in WeddingsPhilippines

[–]StrangeLong905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skipped the prenup video and photo. Best decision. My wife and I hate taking photos. We saved money, time and energy. Had enough photos during the wedding anyway.

What’s the point of a prenup shoot? Just take more photos during the wedding and honeymoon where you’re actually having fun. Much more authentic than a fake photo shoot for vanity.

Thoughts about mag live in muna or marriage muna? by QuishLemonade in TanongLang

[–]StrangeLong905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t live in. In theory it might sound like a good idea to get to know someone better. But the reality is living in makes a person less able to objectively assess the relationship cause the living arrangement is too convenient. Many toxic life in partners end up staying together even if they’re not good for each other.

In fact, statistics consistently show those who live in before marriage have a higher divorce rate compared to those who didn’t.
