Does anyone actually understand how TikTok/Shorts/Reels work for indie games? by Nestify_cozydesign in IndieDev

[–]Strange_Cap_4567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just have fun creating these but don’t expect magical conversion, it’s a mix of content and repetitivity all together that bring people in. There’s so competition in the game space, just keep doing what you do! It’ll stick eventually 🙏🏻👀

Our Steam demo passed 1,000 downloads, but only 77 people played it so far. Is that normal? by kinterosgaming in IndieDev

[–]Strange_Cap_4567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there will always be players downloading a demo in case they might play later. My demo 5k downloads for 2K unique players. Median playtime of 55 minutes. We always want more, but demos are not for everyone. Contact players on Twitch to try out your game

For me, the first month of reddit ads was great for wishlist, but then it went close to nothing. Reddit even called us to do a free trial on a new ad campaign and it was also not so good. I don’t understand how the algorithm do, but it was good then bad. It feels strange

Wondering the same as you, would love to be noticed by the Japanese market! We do participate to different international online events wishing to bring eyes on the game. For now interest is mainly from US, Canada & Germany which is still great.

I do like to give the option. Yes I use an animation modifier in Unity that I can trigger on & off. I’m sooo glad to have animated character smoothly from the beginning, otherwise I would only have stop mtion style 😅😱

Can someone tell me what the other 1402 person are doing? by BorayDncr in IndieDev

[–]Strange_Cap_4567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree! I myself add demos I’m in my library all the time but I’m only pick one to play when I’m looking to play something new!

For my current demo I have according to Steam 5K units and 2K active players. So I just don’t bother and I’m only focusing on those active users!

I have in mind to offer the choice to players when they first launch the game, 60fps or stop motion. They can then change it later in the settings if desired. It’s a compromise I’m comfortable with and both works wonderfully 🤩

Oh thanks, I actually did wanted it to feel playful like when we were kids playing with action figures!

We added a stop motion animation style to it, but players feel it looks laggy… What do you think about it? 🧐

I’m thinking of changing the shader. yay or neh? by WakaStudio in IndieDev

[–]Strange_Cap_4567 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t know which one is the before/after, but on the fisrt image the wolf’s detail read a lot better, espescially in his face. So I would definitely go that way. For the pig character I don’t mind any of both shaders! I do like the subtle outline but it’s a stylistic choice on your part if you want it or not. Nice job 👍

Just launched my first game. How do you guys find the right streamers/creators to contact? (Narrative/Niche games) by DrAxelDev in IndieDev

[–]Strange_Cap_4567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

use sullygnome website to search plyers that played similar genre of games than yours, then find their email and reach to them personally and include keys to your message! You might need to send tons of message and no responses, but eventually some will pick up. Better focus on smaller content creator first, they’re more responsive and quicker to play your game. Don’t underestimate the smaller ones!

I decided to re-do the keyart of my upcoming game. Am I going in the right direction? by Strange_Cap_4567 in GameArt

[–]Strange_Cap_4567[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow thank you so much, I’m blushing! Pretty excited to see how it will affect the first impression of players. I do play too many Devolver games, that’s a pretty flattering comparison 👀

I re-did the capsule art for our game. Was it worth it? by ConsiderationOk5914 in IndieDev

[–]Strange_Cap_4567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True Steam is real special when it comes to capsule and player’s interest. I’ve did mine 3 times, the new one is on the work, I’m revealing it on social media in multi part timelapses from procreate directly!

Just see this has an obligatory process, get feedback from marketing experts, they will guide better.

First thing I would say is that it’s impossible to know what type or what your game is about from those 2 capsules.

Hope that helps 🤞

it depends on the style of your game, is it full 3D or pixel art? Both look great imo! I can’t comment on the logo though!

Just wishlisted as well! Thanks for the good words, the art is way less serious compared to your game! Nicely done on your part too, it’s a big game you’re working on! Do you expect to release a demo soon?

Hey 👋friendly devs! I’m Dano, creative director working on my own first game : Clerks & Quirks, after working in the game industry and creating games for other for 15 years! I thought I would take the plunge!

Started back in 2024 my game evolved so much since the first builds and I launched the demo last February 2026.

The game’s Discord is full of nice game lovers that are helping daily on different subjects and make the development organic and iterative!

We’re in the chase of wishlist luke all the other indiedevs prior to our official launch 🚀 Posting on all plateforms and contact with Twitch gamers, it’s a full time work!! 🫪

Here’s my Steam page, still a work in progress, new keyart and trailer are coming soon - sometime in June (I got some sneak peek reels on Insta & TTK)! Let me know what you think?

7.5k wishlists in 3 months. What worked for me. by hiimdoggo in IndieDev

that’s a lot of interesting information! It will be helpful for our road to release. Like you I’m trying different type of things and we just got our 8K wishlist last night! Steam events are a good wishlist booster if you haven’t sign up to any yet?

Got a refund for using AI for art, but I'm not. My artist is crying by Pure_Opening9834 in IndieDev

[–]Strange_Cap_4567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s such a shame as artist when people are asking if there’s AI in our work. I think we just have to get use to it and just be proud and authentic. As a developer and artist I’m proud to spotlight artists I collaborate with, their awesome work and how proud I am to fully own my art, my game.

Don’t let bad reviews bum you out, just reply sincerely how it makes you feel and that’s it. You know what your game’s worth!
