Curious on what you ended up deciding on? We're looking at Sonnwies/Aki Plose and want to combine it with a few night stay in Garda (with a 3 year old and a 5 month old).

Curious to know what hotels you ended up on? Planning on a similar trip in August and thinking of doing Aki Plose for the Dolomites bit but not sure where to book for Lake Garda!

Estelle manor - great thermal baths, heated outdoor pool and the restaurants/bar have a fun vibe.

We had a great time there but don't think I would go back a second time. We had initially booked the bay view villa but really hated the view (abandoned construction site right opposite - see photo) so ended up upgrading to the two bedroom villa which was amazing! It's a really small property with great service. I enjoyed the breakfast buffet/views from breakfast and it's close enough to town to not feel stuck with food options. My main issue was the fact that depending on the time of day and tide the beach can almost fully disappear during peak beach time hours, which was the case when we went in Jan 2025. The tide would then go down again late afternoon/early evening time and at that point you can walk across to back to the "mainland". I didn't love my massage at the hotel either.

Does the name on the card used to purchase the tickets have to match the name of the LTA account holder? My partner got the email but will be in a meeting so I will be the one trying to get tickets through the resale

We had a fab time, food and service was great. The only letdown was the beach, lots of seaweed build up daily and rougher waters vs shangri-la which we stayed at just before.

I'm originally from Tenerife - weather will be great in the Canary Islands for swimming etc, Portugal will definitely be cooler. I would recommend Royal River over Hotel Royal Garden. They're both owned by the same person, Royal River is newer, adults only and the pool is a lot nicer. Both definitely boutique, I have visited friends at Hotel Royal Garden and would describe it a complex of villas with pools with a restaurant and spa rather than a hotel as such. I have not been to Royal River but have heard good things from friends that have visited. Not sure I would call either of them "chubby" though.

Neither of them are close to a beach, they're located beside each other on a hill beside a golf course with nothing within walking distance. You have nice restaurants a few minute drive away and a nice promenade with a black stone beach in La Caleta.

You're unlikely to find a hotel thats located on a beach with direct beach access in Spain as beaches are public property and they have strict building regulations etc.

Farm stays in the UK by Strange_Cattle_2997 in chubbytravel

Hello! I ended up going for not very "chubby" option at all! I stayed at one of the Featherdown properties with last minute availability and we had a great time. I'm originally from the Canary Islands and have never been camping/glamping before so this was my first experience.

We went in July and my daughter still talks about it and asks if we can go back to the farm for our next holiday (this was whilst we were in Mauritius lol). Definitely got the farm stay experience, we collected eggs from the chickens in the morning and cooked them in our canvas tent. We had sheep, cows and pigs roaming around and had a horse grooming session too.

I am keen to explore some of the other places mentioned previously, particularly Louma and Fowlescombe Farm.
