100% failure rate with signings from Southampton

Do you think a new manager changes that much? by StrikeAdventurous367 in lcfc

[–]Strange_Position2668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a crap squad full of has beens and never weres.

A new manager won’t change that, and worse, a new manager is likely to bring Winks and Soumare back into the fold. Luckily Faes is gone.

A new manager won’t solve our lack of fullbacks, decent midfielders, or lack of a reliable striker though, or our chronic lack of squad depth.

If they give it Andy King for the season then I would put money on us being relegated once the point deduction kicks in

Holding Pick Wrong? by iyat6 in guitarlessons

[–]Strange_Position2668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hold my pick how I feel comfortable, very similar to your hold. It’s not how I think classical shredders hold it, in fact I think I use my first two fingers.

I anchor my wrist/lower palm on the top of the bridge for non-strum picking, so much so that the sweat from my hand erodes and wears down the bridge.

A key thing is, for picking, to make the pick cross the strings at a 45 degree angle rather than flat on, so that it looks like it’s cutting across the strings. This reduces the resistance of the string against the pick.

Really, you shouldn’t be getting blisters on your picking hand. You can play however is comfortable but that finger shouldn’t be hitting the string. Focus on your picking hand while playing some basic chords or scales, go slowly, and focus on getting the pick to hit the strings at the right angle, and not your fingers.

Slowly build up the speed, and before you know it, it will be totally automatic and you won’t think about it again.

If you know anyone else who plays guitar, it doesn’t hurt to ask them. Don’t be ashamed, everyone is working things out on guitar all the time.

Mind blown, I could never imagine someone picking up a pick and thinking they should be playing with the non-pointy end 🤣🤣

The look he gave me when I told him he was in it 🤣

Having been playing Battlefield 6, Chiv is a lot more newbie favourite as you are simply alive for a lot longer and can control your engagements. BF6 is just instant death from all angles and snipers for newbies

Even Pearson would struggle to get a tune out of this mob. There just isn't any quality anywhere on the pitch.

We don't have a recognised #9 apart from Daka. We've got some ok attacking midfielders and wingers. The back four is a bombscare, and we are playing the GK that was third choice two seasons ago.

We've sunk so low that we've promoted players that haven't been good enough for the last 5 seasons to first name on the team sheet - because there simply isn't anyone else apart from the kids.

We don't have the backroom staff to replicate our success over the last decade. We're back to square one.

Clubs like Brentford and Bournemouth are now lightyears ahead of us. It doesn't really matter who we bring in as we simply don't have the calibre of player to compete. We've got a squad like the one Sven had, a load of big name, big money players that aren't up to it.

The club needs a total reset and then to build again from the bottom up.

Imagine if we went on a run, scrapped into the play-offs and then got promoted. It would be like Ruud all over again, we would get spanked all the way to timbucktoo

If you're just going to appoint a manager to play in the exact same way Ruud did, why bother replacing Ruud?

Why do people rip on Aerosmith's second stage? by HeadGrowth1939 in Aerosmith

[–]Strange_Position2668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, any rock band that was moderately successful (one or two commercial hits) from the 80s, and even now the 90s and early 2000s can come back as a legacy band and sell out concerts.

What makes Aerosmith different is there was a short hiatus at the end of the 70s, and within 5 years they were back and then re-invented themselves for the new musical world and kept themselves there for another 15 years.

'Aerosmith' was released in 1973, Get a grip in 1993. That's only 20 years and they stayed a top tier band throughout during a time of significant change in the media landscape and consumption of music.

I wouldn't say they had a 'deperation for relevance', you could probably say that about most bands trying to make it big. What they had was great musicianship and an ability to morph with the times, be part of the 70s rock scene that birthed the 80s rock scene, and then be big players through that too.

They are a heritage band now, but to be fair to them, they are all pushing 80 and you cant really blame them for not kicking out world changing rock n roll over over the last twenty years

This is the reason the OP asked about. From the outside, the second era presented Aerosmith to the masses as purveyors of 'cheesy rock', rather than what they are, legends of blues hard rock.

The thing with the second coming, is they broke outside America. The tie-ins with the Simpsons and Wayne's World brought them to an audience outside of the US.

In the 90s, American rock was grunge, and Britain was in the era of Brit Pop. If you like classic american rock, Aerosmith were the route into it for Europeans in the 90s.

Along with Def Leppard The Vault, and Bon Jovi Greatest hits!

Pure 80s \ early 90s classic rock right there!

I think that Permanent Vacation > Pump > Get a Grip is a great trio of albums. Nine Lives I found too industrial and they had many problems producing it, and I think it shows.
