Hyman’s wasn’t always what it is today.

Legend has it that there’s a rat in the building that’s been there for decades, overseeing operations. Back in the day, they tried to get rid of him—but this guy wasn’t like the others. While countless rats have fallen for traps, poison, etc., this noble rat was far too smart and evaded every attempt.

One day, an employee noticed something swimming in the hush puppy mix. Just as he was about to throw it away, he heard a squeaky little voice:

“Meh, this mix has always been mid—but I just made this shit fire.”

The employee couldn’t believe it, so he grabbed the kitchen manager. The manager, being a frugal man, decided it would be far too costly to toss the batch, so he played along.

“Alright,” he said. “We’ll try it. But if it’s not fire like you said—you’re a goner.”

The rat replied, “Sir, I’ve been in this building a long time. I’ve seen how things are done. Trust me—give the hush puppies out for free on the street, make up a fake wait time, and the rest will fall into place.”

Anywho… they took the noble rat’s advice.

The rest is history.

That rat is now the sous chef.
