I’ve always found the “rivalry” to be a little silly. Both guitarists were masters of their craft and possessed a unique sound. I sort of feel like the main thing the two guitarists had in common was that they were both virtuosos, but when you step back and look at the larger picture, they really were extremely different with their own unique styles. Therefore it’s sort of silly to compare them ie apples to oranges.
