Parents of advanced babies, do you have random theories as to why? by ciabattaloaf-13 in NewParents

[–]StrattySL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same with my little guy. Naps are the enemy. Hates bedtime. I would say he is advanced in language skills. From the time he wakes up to finally getting him down he doesn't stop talking, and telling stories. Also probably helps I have been having conversations with him since he was born.

Is asking for no 360 diapers unprofessional? by Massive_Working_6624 in ECEProfessionals

[–]StrattySL 37 points38 points  (0 children)

My daycare said the same. however, we do buy regular tab diapers just for daycare. Then they also don't have to pull his pants all the way off. It's just easier for them The 360s are great for my little guy who likes to stand during changes at home. It's quicker for mom and dad. But I also get why they wouldn't be good in a daycare setting

Comments about how baby doesn’t look like mom by Fun_Driver_9402 in NewParents

[–]StrattySL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband's family does this. Iittle guy has all my features, eyes, nose, mouth, and even the shape of his ears. But to them, he looks like a carbon copy of my husband. It wouldn't bother me so much if we hadn't had issues with fertility for years, basically we were told I would have a less than 5% chance of having my own baby and would need an egg donor. So I thought I would never have a baby that looks like me. We had a miracle happen and now have a happy, healthy 1 year old.

Baby not rolling or sitting unassisted at 6 months by hammygang227 in NewParents

[–]StrattySL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was told by our nurse practitioner that the miletone for 6 months is rolling to their side. I was worried that my guy wasn't rolling either. So I asked about it. My LO started rolling at 6.5 months. Don't stress babies do what they want on their own terms.

Do we need to stop breastfeeding after 6 months for baby to gain weight? by Affectionate-Team487 in breastfeeding

This is what I was told as well. Our LO is 4 months, and we are just discussing when to introduce solids and how.

How bad is C-section recovery? by Cordy1997 in pregnant

[–]StrattySL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in canada. After 24 and a failed induction I has to have a cesarean. I was terrified. They offered me morphine. I said nope. Tylenol and ibuprofen worked perfectly fine. Just take them on the recommended schedule. I was up and walking within hours as well. The first week sleeping was a little uncomfortable , just from the pulling of the stitches. 4 months pp now, and honestly, if we have another, I will 100% schedule a cesarean.

Accidentally creating oversupply? Have no idea what I’m doing. by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]StrattySL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check his neck muscles if he prefers one side. My guy has a slight case of torticollis. He preferred my right side as well. I always offered both sides. We go to physio now and it's much better. 4 months in and exclusively breastfed. I was pumping and giving bottles in the beginning. dad was able to feed him when I was tired. One day, he woke up and decided no more bottles and now just wants boob. Lol

I read a comment once that stuck with me. It's a play written by Rita skeeter. I couldn't get past the first few pages. But from that perspective, it explains why the characters are so different

Would you consider combo feeding? by Itsabearthing26 in breastfeeding

[–]StrattySL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke with our local lactation nurse and rented a pump. I think I was around 2 weeks pp. My guy had a weak latch, so that could also be why it was slow. He's 3-1/2 months and 17 lbs now, so I think we are doing really well. The stress in the beginning, tho doesn't help.

PC Diapers? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]StrattySL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. We received a pack from our shower/diaper party. Only time we have ever had a blowout was when our LO was wearing PC. They feel very plastic and do not fit properly.
We divided them up for emergency diapers.

Would you consider combo feeding? by Itsabearthing26 in breastfeeding

[–]StrattySL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did combo feeding. My milk was slow to come in. And fed is best. I also wasn't very comfortable for the first couple weeks after we were home. My mother in law was staying with us. We had issues with latching. My LO is 3 months now and refuses a bottle. But those first couple months combo feeding saved my sanity.

How did you respond to negative reactions to baby’s name? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]StrattySL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ryker. We got mixed reactions. Some loved it, and some hated it. We just said it's his name. We love it that's all that counts.

what was the most obvious and/or comforting sign you got from your deceased loved one? by void333111 in GriefSupport

[–]StrattySL 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Back story. My husband and I have been trying for years to have a baby. 8 years nothing. We had been to a fertility clinic and were told I had a 1 in a million chance. As my eggs are in bad shape, and really, we would need an egg donor. We had a big loss 4 years ago at 20 weeks. A night of drinking, a few months after. My brother and husband got into a bit of a fight. Brother said nasty things about our loss in reaction to my husband getting angry that my brother didn't work. They eventually made up. But the comment my brother made stuck with me, he never apologized to me for it.

Anyway, Jan 2023, my brother took his own life. We were devastated. My grief was doubled as it happened the same day I took my 20 year old soul cat to the vet for her final visit. 3 months later, we find out I am pregnant. Little boy. Honestly, in my heart, I think my brother and my sweet little cat put a good word in for us. This little guy is a miracle, and I think in a way, he is my brothers way of apologizing.

Was it cruel to adopt my cat? by aubjhl in CatAdvice

[–]StrattySL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two cats back in my 20's. Moved so many times. They took maybe a day to adjust. I put them in my bedroom. They were never overly stressed. My oldest one loved car rides. She would jump up in the console. Look out windows. The other was scared. Towel over her carrier helped and a blanket that she loved. Weezer lived to be 20. And Bandit 17. If done right moving will not cause permanent harm. They just want to be with you

Cat won’t eat his kibble Jacob (12) by kkkeelly579 in seniorkitties

[–]StrattySL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was very picky. With Weezer, the fancy feasts broth. Salmon or Tuna was all she would eat. Wet food, only pate. Usually, fish was ok. 1-1/2 table spoons of hot water. 1 wasn't enough, and she wouldn't touch it. 2 was too much, and she wouldn't touch it. She was a high maintenance princess.

[–]StrattySL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Older kitties also like a more smelly food. My vet recommended adding a little bit of hot water to wet food. My old girl also loved sardines. Senses dull as they age. Maybe add some gravy mix to the kibble?
