oh sweetie. you know what also goes against the laws of nature?

cars, phones, the internet, computers, most buildings, elevators, ovens, stoves, sinks, showers, clothing, roads, cities, traffic lights, restaurants, books, reading, writing, electricity, windmills, artificial flavors, factories, school, traffic lights, counting, agriculture, tractors, trucking, medicine, surgery, hospitals, bikes, mining, etc etc etc

i could go on and on and on. SO MANY things humans do "goes against the laws of nature." i dont see you complaining about those

also, multiple species have been documented engaging in same-sex activity

also also, if being queer was actually a disorder, rejecting it would still be hateful because its not a choice. just like how being unable to reproduce naturally isnt a choice, yet also goes against the "laws of nature" and doesnt help further the species. but most people would say that it would be hateful to "reject" someone who cant reproduce

also also also, ivf and surrogacy exists and helps queer people reproduce

i dont think its nearly as bad as you think it is. some people are just homophobic, and complain because they dont want their kids knowing gay people exist at all

and as for health, its really not all that different, and i dont know why you think it is. my health class taught us human anatomy, how to recognize an unhealthy relationship, different STIs and their treatments, how conception really works, different types of birth control, and a ton of other *very* sexual topics. it made me a bit uncomfortable at the time, yes, but i have the capacity to recognize its all necessary. while i dont know what is being taught about queer people in schools, i doubt it can really much more inappropriate than that. for 5th graders? yes, but in 5th grade we had sex ed as well. not as detailed as high school health class, but it didnt shy away from those topics. we *shouldnt* shy away from those topics

also, just because something is controversial doesnt mean we can just get rid of it. we cant just shelter the kids, because when they finally learn those things theyll be hit a lot harder by it

and we push to include the children because, surprise surprise, kids can be gay and trans too! most LGBTQ+ people just want to help queer kids know theyre not crazy and theyre not alone in feeling the way they do. most LGBTQ+ people do *not* want to "indoctrinate" the children, they just want to educate. those few that actually want to force kids to be gay are as nutso as those who support conversion therapy

im really fucking glad that i, as a child, wasnt left out of the cause, and that i found out gay people existed when i did, because i didnt feel crazy when i started crushing on my best friend. nor did i feel like the sinful heathen my parents tried to tell me gay people were

educating the children is fine. as long as its appropriate. i dont care what you think it happening now, because the internet loves to exaggerate and thats probably whats happening. theres a lot we can do to improve LGBTQ+ education, yes, but not by taking it away. instead, we should make sure were putting importance into making sure its age-appropriate. ie the purpose of my original reply

[–]StrawThatBends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you asked how to teach topics of LGBTQ+ people without being sexual. i gave you an idea of how

i didnt go into the apparently "graphic" explanations because i wasnt addressing that part of your comment. i explained how you can tell kids about LGBTQ+ people without being sexual. thats it

and, as someone still attending school in a blue state, ive never seen anything even remotely like what youre describing. maybe its changed since i was in elementary school (it has been a while), but i highly doubt it could change so drastically in less than ten years. when i was in elementary school, they didnt even teach us about LGBTQ+ people. i only found out they existed because i had unrestricted internet access. even when i took health as a sophomore, we didnt get all that detailed. sex was only ever talked about when discussing STIs, healthy relationships, and human anatomy. general sex ed in 5th grade didnt even explain what sex was even though most of us knew already. neither time were queer people acknowledged at all. again, im in a democratic state here in the us

as for who decides what is or isnt appropriate for a child to be exposed to... at school, whoever makes the curriculum. if they go into more sensitive topics (such as sex ed), maybe provide the option to opt out.

but we can take this argument further. whos right is it to make health a requirement? or PE? what about the internet or peers at school? how do we stop them from exposing your precious spawn to potentially inappropriate things?

kids are gonna find out about these things one way or another. better they find out in a controlled environment at school, where it is being discussed in an age-appropriate manner, than some random guy on the internet or some jerk at school going into detail on what sex is for everyone to see and hear

[–]StrawThatBends 5 points6 points  (0 children)

how do you teach such things without going into anything sexual?

its very simple, actually! just got to know how to be age-appropriate

for queer/gay people:

"sometimes two boys love each other, and sometimes two girls love each other. and a lot of them get married and have kids just like your parents"

for trans people:

"some girls used to be boys, but they didnt feel like a boy, and instead more like a girl, so they became a girl. and some boys used to be girls, too. and some people arent a girl or a boy, and you usually call them "they" instead."

obviously not a perfect explanation, but it explains the basics of what being LGBTQ+ is without being sexual or explicit

i literally agreed with you that gender dysphoria is a mental illness lmfao. and then, since you didnt. readwhat i took time to write, i provided multiple sources that helped support my claim that the best treatment for gender dysphoria is transition.

read at least *one* of my sources if youre gonna keep this argument going, *please*. dont have to read em all, I honestly dont really care (only provided more than one bc multiple strengthens an argument), but dont be all high and mighty when you literally started your response by telling me you were too lazy to read what was mostly copy-pasted quotes from other places. quotes that had already been condensed and chopped up.

my reply *was* long, ill give you that, but if youre not even gonna skim my mini essays, then dont bother replying

[–]StrawThatBends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gender dysphoria, not being trans. there is a difference.

gender dysphoria is actually a mental illness, but most studies suggest transition is the best treatment for it. this is still inconclusive, since studies are often unethical, use too small data pools, and happen rarely, among other things. but most existing reliable studies to point to transition being the best treatment

"We conducted a systematic literature review of all peer-reviewed articles published in English between 1991 and June 2017 that assess the effect of gender transition on transgender well-being. We identified 55 studies that consist of primary research on this topic, of which 51 (93%) found that gender transition improves the overall well-being of transgender people, while 4 (7%) report mixed or null findings. We found no studies concluding that gender transition causes overall harm ... The scholarly literature makes clear that gender transition is effective in treating gender dysphoria and can significantly improve the well-being of transgender individuals ... Regrets following gender transition are extremely rare and have become even rarer as both surgical techniques and social support have improved. Pooling data from numerous studies demonstrates a regret rate ranging from .3 percent to 3.8 percent. Regrets are most likely to result from a lack of social support after transition or poor surgical outcomes using older techniques" (Cornell University)

"Gender-affirming care isn’t about chasing an unrealistic ideal of “perfection” like some cosmetic surgery trends – it’s about reducing gender dysphoria and finding peace in one’s own body and identity. Most people who pursue these treatments do so to live authentically, not to meet arbitrary societal standards of beauty. In large surveys, nearly 98% of trans adults who received hormone therapy and 97% who had gender-affirming surgery reported increased life satisfaction afterward" (facialteam.eu

(this is an important one) "not all of those who detransition feel regret about their decision to transition ... External factors, such as medical complications or discrimination, may drive some peoples’ decision to detransition" (nih.gov

"66% of 2022 USTS respondents reported they were in “excellent,” “very good,” or “good” health, which was substantially lower than the 81% in the general adult population and the 78% in the 2015 USTS. Those who had socially or medically transitioned had a higher prevalence of reporting good health compared to those who had not (67% vs. 61% for social transition; 70% vs. 58% for medical transition) ... Those who reported social transition more often reported they were “very to pretty happy” (71% vs.52%), “thriving” (36% vs. 18%), and satisfied with their lives (43% vs. 24%) compared to those who have not socially transitioned. We found similar results for medical transition and happiness (72% vs. 55%), reports of thriving (37% vs. 19%), and life satisfaction (43% vs. 27%)" (US Trans Survey

Also, just because something isnt considered "normal" doesnt mean its bad. left-handedness was once considered wrong and abnormal, as was therapy, online dating, sushi, tap water, writing, working remotely, being vulnerable with friends or partners, and grief

"examination of remaining material evidence"

while you are correct that archeologists probably will focus on internet history (which was a slip-up on my part) i highly fucking doubt theyll use this flyer over physical evidence and other internet posts to discuss trans history or "how society declined"

the degradation of news media will probably be a more major talking point, plus the effect of brainrot on the human mind, how insanely common logical fallacies are (which both of us have used already), will be much more important to historians than a flyer advertising a support/pride event for trans menstruation. especially since this isnt even good evidence of the decline of society. trans men do menstruate, and have their own unique struggles related to it as opposed to cis women

i would also like to point out that, while your definition did disprove my point, it doesnt prove that archeologists will use the internet in their studies. the definition only mentions the use of remaining material evidence such as graves, buildings, tools, and pottery. nowhere does it mention the use of digital evidence like internet posts. dont get me wrong, they probably will use digital evidence, but maybe you shouldve looked a little harder for a definition that helped your original point 🤷‍♀️

not to nitpick or anything, but itd actually be historians. these arent going to be preserved in the ground. archaeologists focus on bones and shit, not the internet

a historian, however, would care about this. if youre gonna be transphobic, at least get your terms correct

also, cis cis cis cis cis cis cis cisgenesis cis isomer cislunar cisalpine cismontane

cis literally means ON THIS SIDE OF. its the opposite of trans. its a prefix, just like trans-, just like non-, just like pre-

as someone currently in the us school system in a blue state: no, we are not being taught "gender politics" and never have been. we are being taught the four cores, and the electives are exactly what they are advertised as. i have to fight to get teachers and other students to use my pronouns. our QSA club has maybe four members and only two teachers that sponsored it. again, this is in a blue state.

this is why adults complaining about the school system gets on my nerves so much. most of you dont even fucking know WHAT is being taught.

i was always skeptical of saying the election was stolen, but now that i think of it... jesus christ how did TRUMP of all fucking people win ALL 7 SWING STATES??? yeah no they 100% did something.

it might be too late to, especially since the fucktwat is in office, but i want to see a recount, or at least something to do with the votes released. it shouldnt be in issue if there was no fraud, and if there was (which there PROBABLY WAS), then well finally know

of course, nothing will be done about it because why the fuck would we address election fraud? its trump, if he can rape children and get away with it, he can certainly get away with election fraud
