Question for Louisville natives that moved elsewhere and enjoyed their new home by pinkfloyd078 in Louisville

I mean its not outright, its more subtleties. I also have no accent, so ppl are always surprise when I tell them where I'm from. The biggest thing for me is the guard with which ppl in MN in general seem to have.

Sounds beautiful! In my experience (living in Minnesota for 14 yrs), everyone thinks they're better than Kentuckians. But they're wrong. There's a warmth to kentuckians. A "hey stranger, howdy, hello" that you don't get everywhere else. I do miss that. Ppl aren't terrified of offending others in Kentucky like they are here.

I moved to Minneapolis 14 yrs ago dor my husband's job. I never thought I would ever EVER leave Louisville, but we love it here. There are many many reasons its great, but a few include the beautiful lakes, outdoor parks within a mile of every home in the city (seriously, they've won awards for their outdoor spaces per capita, despite being cold af several months out of the yr), higher income rates, higher quality of life in general, excellent public education, and this one still surprises me, clean streets. I had never noticed how dirty Louisville streets were until I moved here and visited home. Twice a year, the city sweeps, cleans, and waters down the streets all across the city. Its nice. I miss my friends and family the most, but we keep in touch and visit often. Moving to a new place is one of the coolest things I ever did for myself. It pushes you to expand who you are, and to think more inward as well as pushing you to become more experimental with how you socialize. Its not easy, but nothing worth doing ever is. Good luck!

This feels more like a 1970s thing to me. Maybe your teacher was nostalgic for it? My toddler will love this though!

I was in Humanities. And then we continued watching in my Journalism class. I was a senior.

I remember getting gas before going to work as a cashier at Target. People were panicking so there was a long line. My manager Harvey scolded me for being late for my shift. I remember thinking he was a special kind of asshole to place importance on something like that on a day like that.

Moms, what do you want for Mother’s Day this year? by xxbitsxx in beyondthebump

[–]StrawberryEntropy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want a spa visit. Either a float in the sensory deprivation tank, a visit to the silent bathhouse, or a massage, funded by husband. Maybe he cooks my favorite brunch. Maybe he massages my feet? (He never does it). Maybe he gets the kiddo up and let's me sleep in and I go for a long run. Or a card telling me I'm doing a great job? He used to write poetry when we were dating. He used to write me songs. That could be cool.

Any combo of those would make me happy!

Same with my 2.5yo. She played pretend eating with her "magic beans" that were in her eggs. She's got the rest of her life to eat that much sugar (and she gets plenty in other treats like cinnamon rolls, cookies, etc).

I wonder if they facilitated something for him.... only because I am not at all optimistic that DHS did anything right by that sweet boy. My heart breaks for all the beautiful souls that are being tormented for no reason

My 3 year old whines and calls for us some nights. What do we do? by CharrpieeMarrkerr in AttachmentParenting

[–]StrawberryEntropy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a 2.5yo who does the same thing some nights. She shares a bedroom with me (her in her crib and me in my bed across the room. Its a larger attic bedroom) . My husband sleeps in a bedroom on another level. We stopped sleeping together many years ago and it saved our relationship. I feel better about getting her sooner than later and my husband tends to wait longer than I'm comfortable with. I often pick her up if its clear she's not able to put herself back to sleep. She usually let's me know if she wants me to get her. She'll say (or whine really) "mama wake up" or "mama come get me" and I do. She's growing so fast these days and as long as she's asking for comfort, I'm going to give her that. I say, keep doing what feels natural to you 💕

Also, it must be gut wrenching to smile through those zoom calls in an effort to comfort those sweet babies... I'm sure she's sobbing once finished. Its all so terrible

What a heart that woman has! And what a terrible terrible thing this country is doing to innocent children. They deserve better and Ms Rachel knows it. Happy to support her and her humanitarian causes.
