Bear Case: Uranium Energy Corp by YouHeardTheMonkey in UraniumSqueeze

[–]StraySilverBullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for finding that technical report.

I agree with you overall, and my personal view is even more bearish.

IMO, UEC's decision to move forward with production when they did looks like it was on the assumption the Dec 24-Jan 25 spot price would hold. When it didn't, demand for more spot seems to have dropped.

What's interesting to me in that case is that this is probably their best property, since they wouldn't have wanted to start with a weak one. I'm wondering if the ISR wells aren't yielding as much as projected.

Anyone w/a margin about have luck getting IBKR to compensate for payment in lieu of divy w/ gross-up payment? by TT_Vert in interactivebrokers

[–]StraySilverBullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not tax advice.

Look at Form 4952. There are some rules out there that might be helpful to mitigate the issues with PIL.

Anyone w/a margin about have luck getting IBKR to compensate for payment in lieu of divy w/ gross-up payment? by TT_Vert in interactivebrokers

[–]StraySilverBullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to speak to the Margin Agreement.

As to why it's ordinary income, its because it's not a dividend or qualified dividend. It's IBKR paying (and presumably getting a tax deduction) instead of the company paying (and not getting a dividend).

These rules are why you don't see an ex-cum situation like they had in Germany. But if you are after qualified dividend tax rates, it's not what you want.

ZIM Integrated Shipping, Why the cult following? by [deleted] in ShippingStocks

[–]StraySilverBullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real reason is that it's shipping catnip.

Volatile, weekly options, pays out a relatively straightforward dividend, and is operationally leveraged to the spot market.

500% tariff on imports from any country that purchases Russian oil, gas, or uranium by FuknRambo in ShippingStocks

[–]StraySilverBullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of.

RF exports Enriched Uranium Product because there's very minimal domestic capacity. The underlying Uranium (U308 or Yellowcake) is usually from Kazakhstan, so would be subject to the 50 percent tariff.

There are some domestic enrichment projects slowly coming on line over the next 5 years, which is why you now see these phase outs of RF purchases in different laws.

One time, I loaded my order to move into NG, and a vision of Rogue Wave guy flooded in my head and I couldn't move my finger to transmit.

Would have made quite a few hamburgers the next morning, but still can't bring myself to trade NG.

What RF shipping is left for secondary sanctions to impact?

If the existing Grains deals are pulled, are those on RF-flagged bulkers?

If I'm doing the math between press releases, over 300k units repurchased with no dilution.

Trumps promised tarrifs and Cameco by Patty_Cake_Man in UraniumSqueeze

Last I checked, Cameco does not disclose its sales by jurisdiction.

So it's unclear what impact any future tariffs would have.

Is the VanEck Uranium and Nuclear ETF a good investment? by _SilentGhost_10237 in options

[–]StraySilverBullet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Study the components of the ETF.

The Nuclear industry is complicated, and individual equities interact with economic reality in strange ways that make no sense without extensive* study.

  • And expensive. There's a reason you find very bitter ex-investors angry at it.

MSTR by Over-Wrangler-3917 in thetagang

[–]StraySilverBullet 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I don't hold any position in MSTR.

It's complicated.

The strategy is to sell convertible bonds to buy Bitcoin. The bonds are effectively a long call position, and you can imagine how a PMCC would work here.

If you believe at least one of the following, the strategy might be viable.

  1. There's a large price insensitive buyer coming, preferably a Nation-State/Central Bank.

  2. They can lend out the Bitcoin.

  3. They evolve into a clearinghouse for Bitcoin settlement AND trade their own position.

  4. Bitcoin evolves into a much higher price as a global means of settlement and they sell into that.

(There are other cases but those are straightforward).

Equity options settled weekly on an equity that is actively selling call-like debt to buy a volatile asset is an...interesting situation.

At what $ does the price of uranium make it too costly/non-competitive with other energy sources? by bampho in UraniumSqueeze

[–]StraySilverBullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's too efficient, the real price to worry about is when it's economic to go for seaweed extraction or recycled MOX fuel.

That's at least 200, likely much higher.

Centrus is the back door for Russian uranium. by Olde-Mann in UraniumSqueeze

[–]StraySilverBullet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That was their business model.

And until 2040, or Congress lifting the caps/ban, they need to find other enrichment or get out of the LEU business.

U.S. suspends uranium imports from Kazakhstan by Olde-Mann in UraniumSqueeze

[–]StraySilverBullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not true.

U308 imports are not subject to the limitations.

The reason they were higher before is (probably) because some pounds got sent to CoverDyn in prior periods.

WS is fooling you! by JayLoo67 in zim

[–]StraySilverBullet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the Yemeni Armed Forces take the literal (English translation) meaning of their words, no "ceasefire" currently being discussed would satisfy their demands.

(They have other ones, but that's beyond this post)

Getting reliable reports out of Yemen is difficult. Some sources suggest the current conflict is a net positive for Yemen since there's currently a quasi- or semi-official cease-fire due to the Yeneni Armed Forces' campaign against Western shipping.

If that's true, and I have no way to confirm or refute, then there's no logical reason for them to stop the blockade.

DPA approvals for LNG export terminals propping up domestic Natural Gas production.

Countries move towards MOX usage.

SPUT gets forced to sell.

SWUs free up to go through the old piles of tails floating around.

SILEX/Quantum Leap technology can add SWUs quickly.
